Kiosk Staff South Africa Road - Lack of English Language Skills 19:45 - Dec 11 with 1381 viewsnumptydumpty

Crikey in today's world, where everything is taken the wrong way and given a meaning, not intended.

Its just last two visits, asked for a bounty bar and was not understood, but brought a packet of cheese and onion crisps after a two or three minute conversation, where no English words were understood. And then a request for a bottle of coke zero, again received with a blank expression.

Just wondered why the club is employing staff in a customer facing role, that not only cant speak English, but dont even know the few words needed for the small amount of items that are on sale in the kiosks.

Minimum wage is a decent rate recently, so really can't understand why for a few extra shillings, the club can't find staff that actually have even a limited grasp of spoken English.

Question for CN / Beans ???

BTW, this is in no way racist related - if staff can't speak any English, they seriously can't do this job, that would be my understanding...

It really is a shite job, in bad conditions, selling crap produce with rubbish regular hours. No wonder the staff don't give shite or even try to understand

Now, give them better facilities, decent produce (cold Beers anything other than carlsberg) and better food options, I am sure the staff will enjoy the job more.

Currently it's a dead end job with zero upside. No enjoyment for staff or customer's. I don't expect much and neither should any of us.

Don’t think it makes much difference to your issue but I believe the food and drink services are from an outsourced provider rather than directly carried out by the club.

I had the same issue , in the same stand .. If she had been selling lobster and champagne from a pile carpeted , centrally heated booth for 50 quid an hour she still would not have understood me saying loud and clear "chips please" more than 6 times ..(a colleague interpreted in the end )

I get it, but there's zero training and a real lack of motivation. I am sure when dealing with Lobster and Champagne it's different. It's all down to the contractors, facilities and training.

I know some of it is outsourced to recruitment agencies. My daughter worked in there for a while through an agency.

Yeh let’s get stuck into people working minimum wage temp jobs for 3 hours on a Tuesday night, 3 weeks before Christmas, in one of the most expensive cities to live in in the world, on a public message board, because they didn’t quite understand that you wanted a fcking Bounty bar.

Fck me. Honestly.

Actually just realised the problem here, who orders the worst pick of a celebrations box at football match. When was a Bounty ever a regular choice for the half time selection.

Numpty you are the problem, wtf is a bounty bar in today's modern society. Stop asking for them

Clue’s in the name. Honestly, I try and moderate this message board and I do my best.

Someone who thinks do you know what, we’ve beaten Birmingham in the last minute, we’re in the play off picture for the first time in a decade, we’re 4 wins out of 5… but some poor sap trying to scrabble enough money together to live whatever bleak Christmas they’re about to live didn’t understand why a middle aged man would want a Bounty Bar at a football game is worth of calling out on a public forum.

I’m tempted to do an end of year review assessing the English language skills of Numpty’s incessant diatribe on here.

Have a word.

To the non-English speaker, allegedly. Learn from me. The past tense of the verb to buy isn't bought, it's brought. Amongst many other glaring errors.

Really not your finest hour, Numpty.

Have you thought about outsourcing the moderation of this board to some poor sap earning minimum wage, prepared to work a 24 hour day, 364 days a year, as they'd obviously get F.A.Cup 3rd Round Day off.

Could be fun.

I've got the Power.

In an attempt to lighten the mood a little, here's how to make your own Bounty bars. Only five ingredients required, kids .

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
