Sadly, as a head coach, Eckert has taken on the role of a ventriloquist's dummy. His lips move but someone else is actually speaking. Many fans not familiar with the art of ventriloquism will say " that fookin dummy is talking shit". The devious ventriloquist reads the room, puts the dummy in his case and pulls out another one to continue the show. This simple deception makes it very difficult to call out the people who are actually manufacturing said shit. Amorim did call " bullshit" on his hierarchy and predictably now needs a new job. |

Nick, A masterclass in diplomacy and a much needed antidote to some of the hysterical reaction to yesterday's events. Couple of points for you. We now have scored 4 goals in the last 6 games. your verdict didn't really address that and as a matter of fact it hinted that with a bit more good fortune we could have been 4 up before they scored...cue the old saying " if my Aunt had bollix, she'd be my uncle" So new CB and leader required...yes. A proven goal scorer required...bigger yes. I must have missed your assessment of Baz. |

I've had genital warts more amusing than that septic tank festival. As for this Ben Garner bloke..he will get the shock of his life if (when) he is appointed interim manager if (when) we lose to the skates on the 25th. A better bet might have been appointing Joel Garner...73 years old but provides a bit of height up front. Dark times indeed. |

In an attempt to bridge the slightly fractious gap between geopolitics and football on here this morning I was thinking that there are curious parallels between Saints and Venezuela. Both seem to have a pretty shit defence and are soon overrun by fast direct attackers who are far better equipped for the modern game. Both have , in Stephens and (latterly) Maduro, leaders who couldn't get laid in a woman's prison carrying a briefcase full of pardons. Both, as of yesterday, now have Owners (SR and Trump) who in any historically normal world order would currently be held under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act of 1983. I went to my first game at the Dell in 1960 fully expecting us to win. I'll stick with that approach today. |

The outlook for tomorrow up there is very sunny. Sadly that refers only to the weather, not the likely result of the game. |

You might be on to something here. How about this for a template that SR might go for. All Managers will only be appointed on an "interim" basis to avoid all pay-offs. Manager will automatically be replaced on the 3rd Tuesday of alternate months. Manager will be allowed to play 4-4-2..3-5-3...4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1, but never the same one two games in a row, and must feature at least once during his tenure. Any manager winning 2 games on the spin by two goals or more will automatically be sacked and replaced by the Saints Ladies set-piece coach for the balance of his tenure. Any manager selecting Damian Downs will automatically be given a seat (unpaid) on the Board because SR will want to reward a man with the same clarity of vision as them. SR will be all over this like a cheap suit. See you all at our opening fixture in 2032.... Hythe and Dibden (A) in the Velocity Wessex League Premier Division. Given my age it is likely my place on the terrace that day will be filled by an interim version of me. |

Let's say you had asked 1000 people the following question on December 12th. If we score 4 goals in the next 5 games, how many of those games are we gonna win? My inspired guess is all 1000 would have said zero. zilch, donut, bubkes, bagel, f**k all. Funnily enough....... So the absolute proof that GRIM is right will come if we do not sign a proven 25 goal per season striker in the next 3 weeks. Never forget...Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. |

Little bit harsh slagging off the defensive formation that just kept a clean sheet. |

Wikipedia says he is one inch taller...I reckon that is a 1.4 percent upgrade. Of course, on some other areas of the body, an inch would represent a much more significant percentage upgrade. As far as I can see the only fact we have that gives us hope is that his parent is Bayern Munich (decent enough outfit !! )...His career path of Israeli league and loan-outs lack va va voom. |

Well Status Quo did have a hit with "Whatever you Want". Maybe Rik Parfitt (RIP) was contemplating the 3 at the back vs back four debate when he wrote it. For me getting the best eleven on the park is more important than the formation right now. |

My view is that going to back 4 is not a switch flicking move. It requires significant changes to personnel and quite a few role changes. Even if we select the right CB's ( most on here think they are all shit) you still need 2 "traditional" FB's...we got any ?? Add in the need for significant changes in midfield shape and the wide attackers' roles in the absence of wing back support. I wouldn't fancy the next 3 games using "on the job" trainees in a new idea. Summary...going to back four in the run up to the Fishy Park fixture has low risk-reward .potential. |

Unbelievable coincidence. I was chatting to someone with a Brummie accent and a moustache last night too. I was rather uncomplimentary about their jumper and recommended they buy another just like it and then throw them both in the bin. At that point my wife told me her sister had given it to her for Xmas and I should stop being a dick and load the dishwasher. |

I was also in attendance. The size of the crowd was testimony to Man U's pulling power because both teams were distinctly shit at that point. Didn't we both go down that season ?..I think the old Dennis Law back heel for Man City match was a week or so later. |

Some on here might remember this one from the early 1990's. Andy Goram, Rangers and Scotland GK revealed he had been diagnosed with a mild form of schizophrenia. At the very next home game the Ibrox faithful unveiled... Two Andy Gorams There's only two Andy Gorams..etc... Apparently Goram thought it was hilarious. As a postscript, Goram sadly passed away a couple of years ago at 58 y.o.. with McCoist and Alec Ferguson speaking at the funeral. People of my era took the piss relentlessly out of Scottish goalkeeping but Goram definitely put an end to that |

There was some story that he was on video leading the Leeds fans in a foul mouthed song about Wilder during their promotion celebrations back in April. Seems Wilder was willing to overlook that by November. |

Just watching that triggers PTSD...horrible day made worse by seeing that slime bag Ibrahimovic giving it large. |

Can't argue with MG being an upgrade on Archer and Downs but that bar is lower than a snake's arseh*le. I liked him but MG was not really prolific with us, scoring 10 goals over 2 seasons (worse than a goal every 5 games). On balance I would say that if he is the answer, we need to either.. A. Read the question again and/or B. Change our crack supplier |

Christmas lunch will be a table of seven.. Me Spurs fan Arsenal fan Palace fan Wolves fan ( surely they will not show up) Flora Tallinn fan...that'll be my daughter (who has Asperger's Syndrome ) for whom Estonia is a special interest. AND Sister in Law. She is a consultant micro-biologist at a major London Hospital and, having no connection at all with the "real" world, thinks Willy Caballero is a serious prostate condition. If she had been alive in 1939 she would have had a fiver on Poland to win World War 2. I've asked the white bearded reindeer fiddler for promotion this season. Let the trauma begin..see you on the other side. Happy Christmas to all. |
