Anyone go to the old speedway stadium
at 11:26 29 Oct 2026

Suitably admonished for being too old, I'll give Dignitas a call and see if they have an early November slot.

You're gonna have to be old because it shut in 1963.

If memory serves it was in a complex with the Ice Rink and a dog stadium.

Speedway was really popular back then and the Southampton Saints won the National League in the very early 60's with legendary riders like Barry Briggs and Bjorn Knutsen on the team.

A bit niche but someone on here might have gone.

Anyone remember the old baths in Southampton.
at 10:14 28 Oct 2026

That's how I recall it.
Memories fade but I still remember the excitement back in the 60" being ferried over now and again to take a dip.Would probably gave been less hassle to just jump off Hythe Pier.

A crafty Google tells me there were Turkish baths there but I don't recall them.

Verucas, impetigo and cheese rolls were always available for discerning bathers.

Five things about West Ham

From your previous post it seems there was scope for dubious behaviour involving gaps in sinks and the Ladies loos.

"I have no idea how my phone (in video mode) was spotted in said gaps your honour".

Who knows, if Man U lose at home today to that pub team down Boscombe way, Eckert might get a couple of WhatsApps from Jim Ratcliffe.

Made up for the Dobbster.

Has taken some dog's abuse and the only response he can give is a few in the old onion bag.

Another 12 or 15 of those this season and he's an honorary mush.

I am extremely old but I would need to be to have seen CB Fry.He was 13 when we were formed and died in 1956 at the age of 80 something..

He was really a cricketer and a brilliant one by all accounts. He played a handful of games for us and alarmingly played twice for the Skates.

My top two legends remain Davies and Channon. The latter dated a girl in my class who's old man owned the local riding stables..phuq me, it would need a drive by shooting to liven up that anecdote.

Tommy Forey now approaching mythical status.
The bloke of that name on the original list made 422 appearances and scored 47 goals...not Tommy Forecast I would say

The only guy called Tommy who made that many appearances was Tommy Traynor but he was a LB so doubt he scored 47 goals.

We need Interpol on the case to find this Forey fellow.

Ron Davies below Lambert and Stokes. That's a bit hard to swallow...as the actress said to the Bishop....also I note the shock omission of midfield supremo Jimmy Melia from the list.

Worse Saints Keepers Than Bazunu
at 22:31 16 Oct 2026

Although he was arguably the best defensive wing half we ever had, Cliff Huxford was probably the worst keeper.

In the pre subs days an injury to the keeper meant an outfielder had to fill in. Huxford was the designated "scapegoat" between 1961 and 1965.

In the 1961 league cup game vs Leeds we got 4 up before Huxford shipped 4 , only for a late winner for us from Derek Reeves...who incidentally scored all 5 that night.

Fun fact...Huxford's last stint as emergency stopper was in 1965....versus....can you guess..The fish molesters.

I knew that...actually, being called a bell end is a common event for me..usually by my wife.

The high point of my abuse ridden life was when I went into the control room of the refinery that I was working at the time and asked the head operator if he could lend me one of his beefy young lads to help me shift a stuck valve. His reply lives in my mind to this day...

"Why don't you F8ck off and ask someone who cares you brothel bred snot gobbler."

Anything since pales into insignificance.

Clive f*cking Thomas the sheep shagger from Tonypandy ...WAC..

Back then, we denizens of the Milton Road End would buy a programme and take up our position.

First order of business was to check the team sheet and the Ref...If Jimmy Melia was playing and Thomas was the ref we knew our chances of winning were in the same category as the chance we could get to jiggle Raquel Welch's boobs.

Should break into the charts with a bullet next week.

I too love Bree's contributions but would also say that on Saturday his attacking instinct was occasionally leaving acres of space behind him which Pompey nearly capitalised on a couple of times in the first half. Need mobile CB's to cover that.

Southampton V Portsmouth Matchday Thread
at 16:04 11 Oct 2026

Sky picked out a few Pompey fans from central casting...you know the look...

25 year old laceless hobnail boots.
Hand me down canvass trousers with clear evidence that the wearer had recently soiled themselves.
String vest with holes containing some remnants of the previous day's tasty roast squirrel dinner.
Teeth ( optional )
Long greasy unkempt hair and a wispy beard.

Some of their male supporters looked even worse.
