Brilliant report.

"Ronnie Edwards, gliding around, never missing a beat, Glenn Roeder reincarnate."

He really is. His ability to read the game, his ability to carry the ball and his ability to break stuff up and split defences with passes or runs... if he can learn the shuffle he will be the actual "Roeder reincarnation"!

Mind you Glen Kamara is also very much "Shaun Derry MK2". Absolutely outstanding so far.

He's very much one of the better refs at this level. He's reffed us over every kind of result, good or bad and he's always been (for me) a solid 7 each time.

Man United - You going down with the City
at 16:34 25 Oct 2026

Very interesting at the end of this game. Carrick went to the Utd home end and was gesturing apologies. The fans applauded him loudly. He turned to leave as the players approached and the fans very much in unison turned their anger on them. Too right. The players have thrown Carrick under the bus over the last few games. They're an absolute disgrace.

Justin Obikwu

He's only 22 and has been extremely unlucky with injuries so far. It may never happen for him here but on the other hand, anyone who saw him score his 'Wegerle v Leeds' style goal up at Bolton (albeit in the dev team) would have seen what he's capable of. Kolli 100% deserves his games at the moment but I wouldn't entirely write Obikwu off just yet and still hope he will come through and make a mark.

Centre Forwards - Number 9's - Do they exist anymore ?
at 10:15 25 Oct 2026

Kone is only 23 and could end up being a Ferdinand type number 9.

Lankshear at Boro is the best number 9 I have seen since Charlie Austin. Could be a longterm replacement for Harry Kane in the England set up.

You look back at the squad between 2019 and 2024 and you wonder how we stayed up. This year's squad, even with the injuries, is the best we've had in ages. That is largely down to Nourry. When you think he's managed to bring in players like Burrell, Kone, Lamptey, Cirkin, Varane, Charles, Vale, Poku, Kamara, Kemper, Dembele etc, some of who we got because of their injury history, so a physical and financial gamble in some cases, the squad is much much better than it was.

His overall game awareness has improved beyond belief. He's also much tougher and quicker this season. Has really taken his chance.

Paul Smyth up top

He's a great player for us and a nightmare to play against. I think he won the most acrobatic penalty of the season. No doubt a pen but his ability to take off in the air made it an absolute stone waller.

Very much Mr QPR for me. Top top lad as well.

We may be wildly inconsistent every year but we have a very very special club and Andy is an extraordinary part of it.

Feeling very proud!

I loved my Etch-A-Sketch. Took a long time but I could eventually get something worth presenting in a meeting. I fell out of love with it when I tripped over a kerb on the way to the meeting.

With Madsen and Chair out as our major playmakers is it time to put Ward in goal and give Charles the number 10 shirt?

I feel sorry for Stephan. Literally a few weeks ago he had very strong options and a chance to really move us forward. Now he is missing a lot of his best players and if we start to slide it's him who will get the grief.

As I just said on another thread here, we can't compete with most of the other teams in this division so we have to try and gamble on really good players who may or may not be able to recover from bad injury issues.

My fear is that without Madsen we'll struggle because he is so good in that position and that by the time he's back we'll be back in our usual lower mid table position, battling to climb again.

In theory, had most of our players stayed fit and injury free we would be a good bet for the play-offs. Without them it is a lot tougher.

I wonder if they may push Cirkin into left midfield as he was very good for Sunderland in that position. Hopefully Dembele comes back and doesn't break down on the right?

His contract runs for a few more seasons by which time he may only be being sold for parts and spares.

Obviously, that's when we'll look to pounce.

Madsen injury
at 17:19 20 Oct 2026

Our seasons seem to be determined by who we can keep fit. Mbengue we can do nothing about, that's just unlucky.

I guess we have to accept that the players we can afford come with high risk of injury, as we are seeing. Burrell is also unlucky because his injury issues are relatively new but Cirkin, Lamptey, Poku etc are players we would never have if they had proven long term injury free records.

We can't compete with most of the teams in this division financially so there feels like little option but to gamble that we get lucky with some of these players.

At the moment we are 'sold as seen' and 'bought at buyer's risk' purchasers.
