Not something I feel like doing every week but still, it's interesting to check up on the players we've loaned out from time to time.

We've currently got 4 players out on loan, all to L1 clubs and all for the full season.

They are:

Reece James to Sheffield Wednesday
Owen Dale to Portsmouth
Oliver Casey to Forest Green Rovers
Douglas Tharme to Accrington Stanley

There are also 1 or 2 development squad players out on loan but I can't remember whom nor where to.

Hoping this thread is going to be a joint effort.

That's one of the annoying myths about Virtue that he's always likely to pop up with a goal.

Well, he's not.

3 goals is the most he's ever scored in a season.

Virtue at Lincoln: Played the full match in central midfield in Lincoln's 3-4-3 system that saw them ,get a 1 - 1 home draw against high flying Plymouth. Lincoln are happy with their progress post Appleton and feel as though the team is gelling very nicely.

Lubala at Colchester: Came on as an 85th minute sub for rock bottom Colchester in their 1 - 0 away loss at Crewe.

Dale at Portsmouth: Subbed after 65 mins bas Colby Bishop score in Portsmouth 1 - 1 away draw at Morecambe. Portsmouth's goal was scored 2 mins after Dale was subbed .. oh dear.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Played the full match as left back in a back 4 and picked up a yellow in Wednesday's clean sheet 1 - 0 away win at Accrington, Dele-Bashiru played as the central attacking midfielder in the system we should be employing at Blackpool 4-1-3-2.

Casey at Forest Green Rovers: Played the full match as the lynchpin of a back 3 in bottom of the table's Forest Green's 2 - 0 home loss to Wycombe. Kaikai came on as a Wycombe sub.

Tharme at Accrington: Played the full match in the middle of a back 3 as Accrington continue their nosedive with a 1 - 0 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

Virtue at Lincoln: Played the full game in Lincoln's 2 - 1 home win against Morecambe. Puts their outside chance of a play off push back on the rails.

Lubala at Colchester: Colchester climb out of league 2s dreaded bottom 2 places with a convincing win at home to Doncaster. Lubala not in the matchday squad.

Dale at Portsomouth: Played the full game in a 0 - 0 home draw with Derby so maintaining their play off position without troubling the top 2.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Played the full match as left back in a back 4. Barry Bannan assisted as Wednesday won 1 - 0 at home to Shrewsbury to continue knocking on the door of the automatics.

Casey at Forest Green: Played the full match in the centre of a back 3 and picked up a yellow as Forest Green drew 1 - 1 away at Oxford. Joint bottom, GD -22.

Tharme at Accrington: Played the full match in the centre of a back 3. Clean sheet, had a goal disallowed and the had an assist as Accrington won 1 - 0 away at Cambridge. They turn round their recent poor form and build up a 6 point cushion against the relegation slots.

F.A. Cup round 2.

Virtue at Lincoln: No game as they were unceremoniously dumped out of the competition by Chippenham Town in round 1.

Lubala at Colchester: No game. beaten by Newport in the first round.

Dale at Portsmouth: Permission for Dale to play was refused. Portsmouth progressed with a 3 - 2 home win against MK Dons. 2 pens from Colby Bishop among the goals.

James at Sheffield Wednesdsay: James was an unused sub as Wednesday went through to the next round with a 2 - 1 home win against Mansfield. Didn't play due to squad rotation?????

Casey at Forest Green Rovers: Casey played the full match on the right of a back 3 as Forest Green made it into the hat for the 3rd round draw with a 2 - 1 home win against Alvechurch.

Tharme at Accrington: I don't know for a fact but it was probably like the first round when permission for Tharme to play was refused. Not in the match day squad as Accrungton reverted to 3 at-the-back and went through to round 3 with a 1 - 0 home win against Barnet.

Virtue at Lincoln: Played the full game as a central midfielder in a 3-4-3 set up as mid-table Lincoln went down 2 - 0 away to Shrewsbury.

Lubala at Colchester: Nowhere to be seen as joint second bottom Colchester lost 2 - 1 away to Mansfield. Mansfield's winner coming deep into second half injury time.

Dale at Portsmouth: Played the full game as wide right midfield in a 3-4-3. Portsmouth lost away 2 - 0 to Wycombe to confirm their bad run of results. Sky TV made the match an "access all areas" game with stuff like on-pitch audio and cameras in the dressing rooms.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Played the full match on the left of a back 3. Wednesday drew 0 - 0 away to Derby. With other results going their way, a win would've put them in the top two.

Casey at Forest Green Rovers: Played on the right of a back three as Forest Green only conceded ne goal an won a game in the process - 2 - 1 at home to Cambridge who are the team directly above them in the table. A 6 pointer. Casey picked up a yellow.

Tharme at Accrington: Tharme played in the middle of a back 3 and was booked. A 1 - 1 home draw against Oxford isn't enough for Accrigton as they hover dangerously above the relegation slots.

Dale at Portsmouth: Portsmouth's match away to Accrington was postponed due to the weather.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: A last gasp equaliser deep into in,jury time rescued a point for Wednesday who drew 1 - 1 at Exeter. James played all the match on the left of a back 3.

Casey at Forest Green: A clean sheet and 3 much needed points for Forest Green. Casey played the full match in the centre of a back 3.

Tharme at Accrington: Accrington v Portsmouth postponed frozen pitch.

Virtue at Lincoln: Away game at Cheltenham postponed - frozen pitch.

Lubala at Colchester: Home game against Salford postponed - frozen pitch.

Dale at Portsmouth: Played the full match on the right and was carded as Portsmouth went down 2 - 0 at home to MK Dons. Ethan Robson came on as a late (kind of timewasting seeing out the 90 mins) sub for Milton Keynes.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Played the full match as left back in a back four as Wednesday failed to make an impression on the top two with a 0 - 0 home draw with Oxford. Dele-Bashiru came on for Wednesday after 60 minutes but didn't play against Brannagan who was subbed off after 57 mins to go and change the water in his goldfish pond.

Casey at Forest Green: Played the full match as the lynchpin of a back three and is probably suffering from shell shock as Forest Green went down with a whimper 4 - 0 away to Derby. Their GD is -24 and makes our defence look watertight.

Tharme at Accrington: Their away match at Port Vale was postponed - frozen pitch.

Virtue at Lincoln: Played the whole game in central midfield as Lincoln had a terrble result, getting spanked 3 - 0 away to relegation haunted Burton. Ben Toner was the ref.

Lubala at Colchester: Nowhere to be seen as Colchester climb out of the bottom 2 with an away win at rock bottom Gillingham. Poor old Rochdale take their place in the relegation zone.

Dale at Portsmouth: Played on the right of midfied in a 3-4-3 set up. Carded and hooked after 80 mins. Portsmouth poor form continued with a 0 - 0 away draw at Exeter despite haing Colby Bishop as their spearhead.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Played the full match on the left of a back 3 as Wednesday keep tabs on the top 2 with a 2 - 1 away win at Fleetwood.

Casey at Forest Green: Played the full game in the cente of a back and got carded as Forest Green went down 1 - 0 at MK Dons.

Tharme at Accrington: A home point for Accrigton keeps them flirting with the drop zone as the drew 1 - 1 with Barnsley. Tharme wasn't part of the match day squad - I can't remeber him picking up many cautions and it would be unusual for him to be injured as Accrnigton haven't played since 3rd December due to postponments. Ex managerial candidate Michael Duff is currently guiding Barnsley into 4th place in L1.

Virtue at Lincoln: Lincoln Drew 1 - 1 at home with Ipswich. Virtue started the match in central midfield (3-4-3) and was subbed at a very unusual time - in the 4th minute of first half injury time. Pure speculation on my part but his substitution could've been part of a tactical re-shuffle as Lincoln had the middle pillar of their back 3 red carded after 45 mins.

Dale at Portsmouth: Charlton were on a poor run of form but still manager to win 3 - 1 away at Portsmouth, a result that led to Cowley getting his P45.Dale played the full match on the right of a 4-4-2 and scored ...... an own goal deep into second half stoppage time. Did he get Cowley sacked?

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Another clean sheet as James played the full match on the left of a back 3. Wednesday's impressive form continued and sent them into the automatic spots with a 5 - 0 home win against Cambridge.

Casey at Forest Green: Forest Green hit rock bottom of the table as they went down 3 - 1 at home to play-off chasing Port Vale (good to see them on the up). Casey played the full match as the fulcrum of a back 3 and picked up a yellow for his troubles. Forest green have since signed a left sided defender and sold their top scorer.

Tharme at Accrington: Again, no sign of Tharme in the match day squad. Suspected injury but not sure. Accrington changed to a back 4 in his absence and their miserable run continued with a 4 - 1 away drubbing at Derby. They are in trouble, in and out of the relegation spots. Barkhuisen played for Derby.

The Dale own goal. In fairness not Dale's fault.

Pin ball in the penalty area and at least he was in the area because he'd tracked back to defend in the 94th minute.

Dale is number 15. Fast forward to 2 minutes:

Virtue at Lincoln: Subbed off early last week. It's now confirmed Virtue will be out for 10 weeks with a hamstring injury. Lincoln lost 2 - 1 away at Charlton in the league.

Dale at Portsmouth: Dale was subbed off in the 87th minute as Portsmouth went out of the cup with a 1 - 0 loss away at Sprus. Kane scored for the home team. Dale played in an unfamiliar role, playing as the second striker in a front 2 with Colby Bishop (oh what could've been !!! ) in an El-Tel Christmas tree formation.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Played the full match in his now familiar left of a back 3 position in Wednesdays great 2 - 1 home cup win against Newcastle. Dele-Bashiru was hooked at half time. i would've expected more than 25k at Hillsborough for this game.

Casey at Forest Green: Forest Green's home cup tie against Birmingham was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Tharme at Accrington: Still no sign of Tharme in Accriongton's squad. I've seen on Sport's Mole that he's definitely injured but it doesn't say what the injury is or how long he'll be out for. Accrington drew 1 - 1 away at non league Borham Wood and have been taken to a reply in the cup.

Virtue at Lincoln: 2 weeks since sustaining a hamstring injury. Mid table Lincoln drew 0 - 0 away at MK Dons.

Dale at Portsmouth: Played the full match in a 3 - 0 loss away at Bolton. Dale continues to be played higher up the pitch, this time one of 2 advanced men playing off / behind Colby Bishop in a 3 - 4 - 2 - 1 formation. Dion Charles, remember him, Scored one of Bolton's goals. M.J. Williams, remember him, played the full match for Bolton.

IIRC, There was talk last week of a cut off date this week for recalling Dale.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: James showing versatility after being pushed forward to play on the left of midfield in a 3-4-1-2 set up and was substituted after 88 mins. It was probably a re-shuffle to compensate for the absence of Barry Bannan. Dele-Bashiru sat the game out on the bench. Wednesday continued their storming riun at the automatics with a 1 - 0away win at Wycombe. Kaikai was an unused sub.

Casey at Forest Green: Casey played as the right centre half in a back 4 as Forest Green let a 1vgoal lead slip to draw 12 - 1 away at upper - mid table Exeter. Rock bottom Forest Green made the midweek signing of Jamille Matt to get them out of the doh dah. They're at home to Birmingham in the FA Cup tonight.

Tharme at Accrington: Tharme is back on the scene, coming on as a 62nd minute sub for Accrington as they eased their relegation worries with a 2 - 0 home win against high flying Bristol Rovers. Tharme replaced the central defender of a back 3 to reclaim his spot. The once much feared Portsmouth striker, John Marquis, came on for Rovers in the second half. Accrington's home cup replay tonight against Borham Wood was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Virtue at Lincoln: 3 weeks since his injury. Lincoln's home match with Burton was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Dale at Portsmouth: Portsmouth won their home match, a south coast derby, against Exeter 2 - 0 in ex-nobber John Mousinho's first match as their new manger. A bit of a weird appointment with Mousinho having an unremarkable playing career and bring Karl Robinson"s understudy at L1 Oxford. Portsmouth must see something in him. In a 4-3-3, Dale played the full match on the right of Colby Bishop in the from 3.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Out injured with ankle ligament damage suffered last week at Wycombe. Wednesday continued to win (1 - 0 at home to Fleetwood) and are in the automatics and 7 points clear of the play offs.

Casey at Forest Green: Rock bottom Forest Green lost 2 - 1 at home to MK Dons. the win enabled MK Dons to climb out of the relegation places. Casey played the full game as the left centre half in a back 4. Will Grigg started and was subbed for MK Dons.

Tharme at Accrington: Thame's first start since coming back from injury saw Accrington lose 3 - 1 away at Barnsley. as they continue to hover dangerously above the relegation places. Tharme played for 80 mins in the centre of a back 3 and was subbed after 80 mins probably for 2 reasons:
1) Because of his own lack of match fitness.
2) To give some playing time to another centre half just returning from a very long injury lay off - Michael Nottingham.

Virtue at Lincoln: 4 weeks since being sidelined by injury. Lincoln's unremarkable season continued with a 0 - 0 home draw with Cambridge.

Dale at Portsmouth: Dale started the match to the right of Colby Bishop in Portsmouth's mis-firing front 3 and was subbed after 74 mins. I don't think the substitution was due to injury or a tactical switch, the Portsmouth newspaper's match report describing Dale's contribution as being 'disppointing'. Portsmouth lost 2 - 1 away at Peterborouigh (their goal was an own goal) and already can more or less kiss goodbye to the play offs.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Wednesday have been on a role and are clear in the automatics, 4 points and a match in hand giving daylight between themselves and the play offs. James was nowhere to be seen as Wednesday drew at home in the FA Cup to Fleetwood. Must have been squad rotation.

Casey at Forest Green: Big Dunc's first match in charge finished in Keystone Cops fashion as bottom club Forest Green conceded twice deep into injury time (94th and 98th mins ) to let a 1 goal lead slip and lose 2 - 1 away at play off chasing Shrewsbury. Casey played the full match as right centre half in a back 4.

Tharme at Accrington: Accrington lost 3 - 1 at home to Leeds in the 4th round of the cup. Tharme played the full match at the centre of a back 3 and was subbed after 80 mins - to saved him for their league matches / relegation battle to come???? Accrington slipped into the relegation places as Morecambe leap frogged them with a win.

Virtue at Lincoln: 5the week out injured. Lincoln won 3 - 0 away at Accrington.

Dale at Portsmouth: Played the full match on the right of a front 3 and so far totals 1 goal and 4 assists for the season. Portsmouth drew 1 - 1 at home to Barnsley and remain 9 points behind the play offs. Colby Bishop scored to take his season's tally to 12 including pens.

James at Sheffield Wednesday: Wednesday's red hot winning streak shows no sign of finishing as they go top after a 1 - 0 home win in the top of the table clash with Plymouth. James wasn't in the match day squad - He was stretchered off at the end of the match against Wycombe with an ankle injury. Ben Heneghan is also out injured for Wednesdsay. Barry Bannan captained them and Aiden Flint made his debut. Ryan Hardie came on as a half time sub for Plymouth. The gate was over 33,000.

Casey at Forest Green: Casey played the full match as the right centre half in a back 4. Doomed Forest Green lost 2 - 0 at home to Peterborough and are now 7 points adrift of safety having played 2 matches more. Big Dunc's insisting they can stay up. Ben Toner was the ref.

Tharme at Accrington: Tharme started the match in the centre of a back 3 and was subbed off in the 96th minute. He was shown a yellow. Accrington slumped to second bottom after a 3 - 0 home defeat to Lincoln - they are only 3 points off safety and have 2 matches in hand.

Tayt Trusty at Hartlepool: Started the match and played in the number 10 role behind the front 2 in a 3-4-1-2. Subbed off after 62 minutes. Hartlepool won 1 - 0 away at Doncaster to climb out of the relegation places.
