‘Their best chance of survival’ — Blackpool v Wigan Athletic prediction:
Blackpool host Wigan Athletic in the Championship this weekend.
Two teams in the Championship’s relegation zone go up against each other on Saturday, in what remains a huge game for both sides.
That’s despite Wigan sitting in last place of the table and eight points from safety, with Blackpool in 23rd and seven points from safety, with both sides having five games left to play.
Stephen Dobbie take charge of his first game in temporary charge on Monday, seeing his side lose 3-1 at Luton Town. Wigan meanwhile lost 2-0 at home to Swansea City in their last outing.

“Even though it’s still mathematically possible for these sides to stay up, I think both will be playing in League One next season.
“But neither side will have given up and they’ll know that a win in this one is their best chance of survival this season, so expect a really compeitive and probably scrappy game here.
“Games like this will be settled with a bit of quality and for me, Blackpool have slightly more quality in their attacking arsenal, so I’m going to back the Seasiders to claim a narrow win here.”

“There were bright moments for Blackpool against Luton Town and it will be hoped that former player Dobbie can galvanise his squad to keep their survival hopes alive. If they’re to do so, they have to win here, but I feel the spoils will be shared.
“Wigan are still in with a shout of survival as well, and three points would be vital for them too. That said though, I feel both will be heading to League One, regardless of how this one ends.
“I expect a tense clash between the two and can see both taking a point from this, which won’t do a lot for either side.”

Even though there are very few matches remaining, I think Dobbie will try to go for something we haven't had all season - a settled side. He'll only change the Luton starting eleven if Yates is fit.

Match Preview: Wigan Athletic (H)
Stephen Dobbie will take charge of Blackpool at Bloomfield Road for the first time against Wigan Athletic.
The Seasiders Interim Head Coach lost out to Luton Town in his first game in charge but there were positive signs heading into another important game of the season.
Wigan currently sit bottom of the Sky Bet Championship.
One to Watch - James McClean:
The Republic of Ireland international has been an important figure for Wigan for a number of years, particularly in this current season. Three goals and seven assists have been valuable in the final third for a Latics side struggling for quality.
The Manager - Shaun Maloney:
The former Scotland midfielder has had a mixed start to life as a Head Coach. Having gained valuable experience as part of both Celtic’s and Belgium’s backroom staff, particularly under Roberto Martinez in international football, Maloney took his first number one role with Scottish Premiership side Hibernian. Now Maloney is looking to pull off a great escape with Wigan.
The Referee - Thomas Bramall:
Bramall has taken charge of 29 matches so far this season, handing out 88 yellow cards and two red cards.
The last game he took charge of the Seasiders in was the 0-0 draw at Burnley in early March before he jetting off to Japan to take charge of two J-League games.

Report: Blackpool 1-0 Wigan Athletic
Blackpool picked up a massive three points with a 1-0 win against Wigan Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship.
Pool came away with the spoils thanks to an early goal from the returning Jerry Yates.
The Seasiders made the perfect start within the first two minutes as Keshi Anderson slid Yates in behind on the right, and the striker powered it in off the post to give Pool an early lead.
Wigan’s first chance of the match fell to Thelo Aasgaard who struck from just outside of the box, but his effort went well wide of the post.
Two minutes later after a great flick by Yates, Josh Bowler found room on the edge of the box but like the aforementioned Aasgaard his shot went wide of the target.
Pool were consistently pressing the visitors back line in the opening period, and in the 30th minute Yates charged down a Jack Whatmough clearance, which nearly lead to the ball deflecting into the Latics’ net.
Will Keane had an opportunity right on the stroke of half-time when the ball fell to the striker in the box, but his turn and finish was saved by Dan Grimshaw.

Five minutes into the second-half, Morgan Rogers clipped a ball into a free Bowler, but the winger couldn’t get the desired power on his strike to trouble Ben Amos in the Wigan goal.
In the 53rd minute the ball was clipped into Will Keane in the Pool box, but the former Manchester United player’s half volley was scuffed, making the save much easier for Grimshaw.
Just past the hour mark, Callum Lang set Ashley Fletcher free down the right and substituted dinked a ball into the box, but the arriving Aasgaard headed his effort over the bar.
In the 81st minute James McClean curled in a free-kick to the back post where Charlie Hughes was waiting, but the centre-half headed wide of the near post.
Two minutes into added time, Wigan captain Max Power put a teasing delivery into the Pool box, which evaded everyone except McClean at the back post, but he couldn’t get his foot around the ball to divert his effort on goal.
Pool held out after nine added minutes to pick up a vital win.

A Jerry Yates goal after just two minutes succumbed Latics to a 1-0 defeat at Bloomfield Road.
Latics fell behind with Blackpool's first attack as Yates was played clean through and he fired in off the post. Shaun Maloney's men dominated possession, but could not find a leveller.
Maloney made three changes to his starting line-up as Omar Rekik, Thelo Aasgaard and Will Keane all returned. Tendayi Darikwa, Christ Tiehi and Ashley Fletcher dropped out.
With their first attack of the game, Blackpool went ahead as number nine Yates got in behind Rekik and slotted past Amos, via the inside of the far post.
Latics responded well and dominated the next 10 minutes, both in possession and territory, Callum Lang causing danger down the hosts' left.
Wigan worked the ball well as Aasgaard found space 25 yards out, but he dragged his effort wide. At the other end, Josh Bowler fired over from a similar distance.
Lang was involved again just short of the half hour mark as he fed Keane in, but the bouncing ball made it tricky and a Blackpool defender got back to block as Latics continued to press.
Jack Whatmough’s pass was then charged down by Yates and missed Amos’ post by a matter of centre meters.
Latics continued to dominate the ball, but ultimately failed to test goalkeeper Dan Grimshaw before Maloney's men were dealt another blow as defender Jack Whatmough left the field through injury. Ashley Fletcher came on in his place in an attacking change.
Tom Naylor claimed for a Latics penalty on the stroke of half-time after a scramble at the back post before the impressive Charlie Hughes fired a dangerous cross in which a Blackpool defender fortunately deflected over his own crossbar.
Callum Lang then had a header from a Max Power cross drift well wide, but despite dominating the ball, trailed at the break.
Blackpool had the first chance of the second half as a ball from the left found Bowler free inside the box, he chested down, but fired straight at Amos.
At the right end, Ryan Nyambe’s cross from the right found Aasgaard, but he scuffed his effort and the ball rolled into the hands of Grimshaw.
Tiehi came on at the break for Naylor, and he had given Latics more punch in the centre of the pitch. A ball from Fletcher found Aasgaard again, but he was reaching for his header and it looped onto the roof of the net.
Flecther was involved again minutes later, but he took too long to get his shot away on the edge of the box as it was blocked.
Keshi Anderson then fired a volley wide from 30 yards before Fletcher headed a James McClean free kick wide.
There was nine minutes of added time following an injury to a Blackpool player and Latics went close to grabbing a late leveller as Power’s cross went through a host of bodies and found McClean at the back post, but he could only find the side netting.
McClean was involved a minute later as his cross found substitute Josh Magennis, but he headed over before Latics had another shout for a penalty following a handball appeal, but it was waved away and Blackpool hung on for the vital three points.
