It's still ultimately about not being worse than Reading. Wigan can't catch us and have two wins back to back right now. So if they can beat Reading, I think we're good.

Millwall have to win really to keep their play off hopes alive.
Cardiff are also interesting as they have to play two games in three days, both against relegation rivals followed by Burnley away on the last game of the season.
Huddersfield also has to play two teams at the bottom: Cardiff and Reading, as well as a top two team, Sheffield United.

Yes - avoiding a tense last day would be welcome after a traumatic season. But will we?
As I see it, there are three (and only three) scenarios by which we can secure certain safety this coming weekend:
1. We beat Stoke - simples.
2. Blackpool fail to beat Millwall on Friday, we don’t beat Stoke but still match or better Reading’s result against Wigan (i.e. we draw/Royals draw, we draw/Royals lose, we lose/Royals lose).
3. Reading beat Wigan, we only draw at Stoke (rendering Blackpool irrelevant) but, crucially, Huddersfield then lose in Cardiff on Sunday.

Yep, you're right - but in terms of guaranteeing safety this weekend , we wouldn't 'need' to as such.
Huddersfield play Reading on the final day so, under point 3, the worst-case scenario on the morning of the final day would be us on 48pts (having drawn at Stoke), Hudd on 47 (lost to Cardiff & assume they thrash Sheff Utd in their game in hand) and Reading on 46 (having beaten Wigan) ie confirmed safety. | | | |
