That's the core of a decent Prem squad. Add in Reece James and Conor Gallagher, and that's 11 of your 25 man squad sorted. Their puppy farm finally began to produce results, and they have sold / are looking to sell them all.
I'm well aware that one of the quirks of PSR is being 'rewarded' for selling homegrown players. But imagine the feelgood factor around the club, any club at any level, if 45% of your squad is decent academy products. You then top it up with experienced heads (Koulibally, Kovacic, Jorginho, Azpilecueta, Kante,), a couple of bobby dazzler overseas hot shot signings (Lukaku, De Bruyne, Salah, Courtois )- and it's a recipe for not only success, but also patience / support / buy in from fans.
Look at that squad they could have had - quality, flair, nous...youth & experience...homegrown talent and bought in star quality...

There was also another report that suggested that the players that had been signed on long term contracts aren’t happy. Fernandes is reported to be looking for a move and Simon Jordan came out with a lovely quote the other day on the radio stating that Brighton can turn a £5million player into a £100million player and North Battersea can turn a £100million player into a £5million player.
Hopefully the next couple of years play out in a way in which we all hope.😂 | |
