because our players are stupid - we left one to Cannon !...he can barely kick a ball.

I said the same thing on the match thread.

I assume the answer is along the lines of, Anderson isn't starting for us currently, and, contrary to all visible evidence, they do actually work on set pieces during the week with the players that do 90 min.

Nevertheless I'd have given a variety of vital organs to see Anderson take a corner ahead of Paal or Chair, it's like watching a blind person cross a busy road

Asked this on the match thread, perhaps we're the only two that knew, nobody told Marti. How anybody with half a brain can stand and watch these two game after game after game hit the first bloke and do nothing is beyond me.

But can he pat his head in the way that Chair and Paal both do whilst on corner duty?
Another thought is that maybe our training ground is circular?

Seven corners we had.

I said the same too. Paal and Chair set pieces have provided nothing for many months. Time to give someone else a go.

I despair with the persistence of Paal and Chair taking our corners. So many times it literally goes waist high to the near post and is cleared away by the opposition. Someone else has to take the corners. Can only remember JCS scoring at Huddersfield this season from a corner. Another game where the game was over after about 20 mins.

Never seen a squad as bafflingly poor at both attacking and defending set plays. Any dead ball actually! And that’s not about ability, it’s mainly down to desire - something which our squad lacks in absolute spades.

Think I’ve answered my own question

QPR - "shit but local"

The last one was the worst - we had Frey, Dykes, Field and Cook in the box, at least!, and Andersen on the pitch.

Yet Ken (who I otherwise like) BALLOOOONS the ball over the 6 yard area onto the bonce of Andersen, his header is easily cleared and its cycled back out, backwards of square, 'after you Claude', into the left back position, and back out to Illias who puts in the same sort of unsuccessful, speculative ball we'd been doing from open play all game.

Teeth grinding stuff.

There are two parties involved in a successful set piece - the kicker and the receiver. Same applies to a pass in open play.

I think there is some sort of snobbery within the squad, as part of which they believe that scoring a goal from a set piece is in some way beneath them or even distasteful.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

The receiver can't score unless the kicker actually kicks it into the f#cking area, Jesus !

They did kick it in to the area but that damn bloke on the edge kicked it back out before it got there, I don't know why but he does that every time and it's just not fair.

22 May 1982.

Stainrod long throw, Hazell heads it on, and Fenwick heads in at the far post. I know some celebrated it as an equaliser in an FA Cup final, but a lot of us went balmy because it was a goal from a set piece.

Can't remember the exact date, but the news was excitedly conveyed by S/T holders Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail using their splendid new electrical telegraph machine.

True. But, what I am suggesting is that some of our players may not be very good at putting themselves into the space where they can receive a pass.

I suppose there is always the possibility they chucked it into the signing piece on the offish because they knew it would play well to the crowd.

Even if we stick with Paal/Chair on set-pieces why has no one in our side thought about making a run in front of the opposition player at the front post to flick the terrible set pieces on instead of watching it get cleared every time.

I forbid such talk, common sense and obvious footballing intelligence is not permitted. We are QPR and clueless pricks is our game.
