There's a pub up in Wensleydale thats owned by a Blackpool fan. I am sure someone will enlighten us.

Other than that, I like Richmond...lovely historical town with a castle, abbey and some lovely pubs.

Thanks Allez

I would be interested to know which pub that is...

Richmond - a good shout, have only visited once and that was a flying visit, may well check it out properly..

The pub is in West Burton about 5 mins from Aysgarth falls. Can't remember the name but as you drive into the village there is a green ahead and to the right- the pub is in the opposite corner to your arriving at the green. I discovered this place by accident and was more than pleasantly surprised to see a 2010 Pool shirt framed on the wall.

You're not too far away from the highest pub in England, the Tan Hill Inn. Good beer and good food, also Buttertubs Pass a must if you're in the area.

Went to Settle the other week - well worth a visit to see the old water tower at Settle station, featured on Restoration Man.

Fantastic little cheese shop there too, if you've not got enough after your visit

Thanks all.

Wilf - didn't read this before I went but ended up doing Buttertubs pass anyway as we went to Castle Bolton, Reeth, Muker and then back to Hawes. What a spectacular drive that Buttertubs pass was....I didn't know it had a name but we commented several times on the breathtaking scenery.

I wouldn't like to be driven over there by an unconfident driver though.

Here to help La La. I know that area fairly well as my wife's ancestors came from the area (Arkengarthdale) which is between Reeth and the Tan Hill Pub.

Her Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather ( I think it was 5)wrote a book about Bedale and has a blue plaque on the wall of the house he used to live in. Fortunately we were able to obtain a copy of the book which has a lot of info about her family in it.

An interesting fact is that there is an Oyston buried in the church yard at Bedale, when I saw it my heart jumped for joy, but I then realised it wasn't any of the present crew.

Haha - I'm sure he/she could be linked back somehow to the present clan..

It's a beautiful area, really beautiful, Gunnerside was another village ticked off my list. Reeth was surprisingly pretty.

We will have to check out the Tan Hill pub, have read about it being the highest etc, but never been.
