Two Blackpool sports clubs are seeking council permission to make changes to the outskirts of their playing areas.
Blackpool Football Club wants approval for the demolition of two properties at 32 to 34 Henry Street, which back onto the Bloomfield Road stadium.
The application says the buildings are “empty and beyond repair” and adds they “attract anti-social behaviour including fly tipping.”
It adds following demolition, the site will be fenced off and secured “until a decision has been made on what to do with the land.”
Meanwhile Blackpool Cricket Club has lodged a planning application to improve access to its ground on West Park Drive which is within the Stanley Park conservation area.
It wants to create four new entrance gates via the boundary wall so crowds will be able to enter and exit events including major cricket matches and potential music events more easily.
Documents submitted with the application add: “There is also a commitment from Lancashire County Cricket Club to bring the ground up to a county standard playing and spectator facility.
“This will allow the club to host regular county cricket with probable increased attendances.”
The applications will each be considered by town hall planners at a future date.
