Blackpool Football Club can confirm that it has completed the design and purchase of a new modular building for its training base at Squires Gate.
The building, which has been acquired while work continues towards a new training centre, follows some extensive renovation of the training pitches since Simon Sadler took over the Club.
Planning Permission had previously been granted to install some hired portable facilities at the site under the Interim Management Team.
Chief Executive Ben Mansford explained:
"Simon Sadler believes that the training ground environment is critical to the success of the Club. Simon was not happy with the hiring of a second-hand building on significant terms. Therefore, we have been working with the coaching staff to design a bespoke building which we have now purchased on a more cost-effective basis.
“The building includes changing facilities for players and staff, along with eating areas, meeting rooms and medical facilities. Our Head Coach Neil Critchley was also able to have a final input in the design and fit out. This is something we've been able to do through Simon's continued support.
"We are continuing to work hard towards a new training centre to accommodate the entire football operations of the Club from the Academy to the First Team. A new facility remains an absolute priority for Simon and to which he is firmly committed to delivering. However, it is important that we get it right. We are still working on sites and designs but due to the Covid-19 crisis things are understandably moving a little slower than we would like.”
