Form Guide
Blackpool DLWLLD

Blackpool will play in this game coming off the back of a 1-1 EFL Trophy tied result versus Accrington Stanley.

Fewer than three goals per game were seen in 5 of the past 6 fixtures where Blackpool have taken part. Regarding the goal attribution during that period, opposing sides scored a total of 7 and The Seasiders managed a tally of 5. That trend won’t necessarily be sustained into this game, though.

Ipswich Town WLWWDW

Ipswich Town head into the game following a 2-0 EFL Trophy win with the downing of Gillingham in their most recent game.

For 6 of the prior six games involving Ipswich Town, a notably low volume of goals have been hit between them and their opposition. The overall average goals scored per game within that spell comes to just 1.83, with the average goals for The Tractor Boys equalling 1.5.
↔️ Head to head

An examination of their most recent head-to-head clashes dating back to 09/11/2013 shows us that Blackpool have won 1 of them & Ipswich Town 3, with the tally of drawn results being 2.

An aggregate of 19 goals were shared by the two clubs throughout the course of those matches, with 8 of them for The Seasiders and 11 netted by The Tractor Boys. The average number of goals per game works out to 3.17.

Team News: Ipswich Town

Ipswich manager Paul Lambert has to choose from a squad that has some fitness concerns. Stephen Ward (Achilles tendon problems) and Flynn Downes (Knee Injury) won’t be making appearances.

Prediction

For this match, we think that Ipswich Town have it within them to find the back of the net against this Blackpool lineup, although that may not quite be as many as they’ll concede.

We’re going for a close game with a 2-1 winning margin for Blackpool at full-time. We’ll have to see what happens.

Opposition Report: Ipswich Town (H)

Blackpool will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in League One as they welcome high-flying Ipswich Town to Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Ipswich Town, who have won three of their first four games at the start of the 20/21 season, will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the campaign. A 1-1 draw against MK Dons last time out has seen Paul Lambert’s side go third in the table, scoring seven times and conceding only once.

After playing out a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening, Neil Critchley’s men will be looking to pick up their second win at Bloomfield Road this season, after picking up their first win of the campaign against Swindon Town in September. The Seasiders earned a dramatic late victory when the Tractor Boys last visited Bloomfield Road, with Joe Nuttall’s 93rd minute winner clinching all three points for the hosts.

The Visitors

Despite an impressive start to the 19/20 season, winning ten of their first 14 matches in all competitions, Ipswich Town slipped to 11th in the League One table after a disappointing end to their campaign.

Paul Lambert’s side will be looking to rediscover their away form from last season, winning nine games on the road, including victories against MK Dons and Fleetwood Town. The Tractor Boys will be hoping to keep their momentum going after four points from six on the road so far, with a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers and a 1-1 draw most recently against MK Dons.

Portman Road has not been short of transfer activity this summer, with Lambert adding five players to his squad. Six players also left the Club in search of new pastures, including Jordan Roberts (Hearts), Will Keane and Danny Rowe.

Oliver Hawkins signed from Portsmouth to add to Lambert’s forward options, whilst David Cornell (Northampton Town) and Stephen Ward (Stoke City) both joined on free transfers. Talented youngsters Mark McGuinness (Arsenal) and Keanan Bennetts (Borussia Mönchengladbach) also joined on loan.

The Manager

A manager with plenty of experience, Paul Lambert is currently in his third season at Ipswich Town after being appointed in October 2018.

Despite failing to steer the Club away from relegation to League One, Lambert remained in charge for the following season and won 14 of his first 18 games at the start of their first season in the third tier of English football for 17 years. The 51-year-old signed a new five-year deal with Ipswich in January, keeping him at the Club until 2025.

After an impressive start to the 20/21 campaign, Lambert will be hoping his side can go one step further and secure promotion back to the Championship this time round.
