And like buses the WLS boys have uploaded another podcast. Good discussion about goalkeepers.
Be interesting to see what happens in that department. Also hearing Ian M on the pod say that Murphy Mahoney looked too small to be a GK at Champ level, as a man that is the same height as World Cup 94 keeper Jorge Campos (crazy keeper tops) everyone is tall to me... but I thought exactly this when Mahoney admirably stepped in a couple of years ago, yet he's listed at 6ft 2...
Anyway, I digress, decent WLS pod to while away some time at work!
Am I alone in thinking, unless we receive a daft offer (£10mil) we should be keeping JSC?
Wouldn’t mind seeing us have a push towards the nosebleed end of the table and for me JSC is a crucial part of that.
I know we are a club that needs to sell to be solvent but it seems a shame that we’ve had him for just a season and he’s formed a real formidable partnership with Cook.
Gotta be tough to take, seeing his successor turn us around and get us fighting (something which the players never truly bought in to with him) and playing decent football.
Also, the way Ainsworth started pitching us in pre match interviews as some sort of part time non-league minnow fighting against global powerhouses like West Brom (I exaggerate a little) really started winding me and probably many other fans up.
A lovely man, and a really solid, committed pro for us as a player, but a terrible manager who perhaps is in denial. John Beck football is way past its well by date.
It's now Wed after that Friday win and I'm still getting a daft amount of joy out of this victory and the fans of the Real Madrid of Yorkshire's reaction to it all.
I’ve just had a friend of a friend who is a Leeds fan ask if I could get them a ticket. I said no it should be for QPR fans only!
Is this the sort of nonsense we’d have to put up with if we ever made it to the increasingly less appealing promised land that is the PL? If so, count me out.
Couldn’t agree more. My love for the game has slowly dwindled over the years. So far this season, I’ve not watched a single PL game in its entirety, which would have been unthinkable to me 10 years ago.
The more that money has taken over the worse it’s become.
A good point and something you see a lot of opposition fans say. It makes me wonder have we held him back, would he have thrived more at a team like Leeds or Leicester?
Just outside the Top 50. Thank you for providing that info. Still a lot for a modern QPR player, given the high turnover of players we’ve had in recent years.
Someone on here with far better knowledge than I will know but Chair must be in our top 20 most appearances ever as he's on over 200 - if you believe Wiki. That is slightly mind boggling actually.
It's tricky when you are the main creative outlet and have been for a few years, and if you have seen him a lot, you get used to (frustrated by) what he does (take the ball to the left touchline, hold on to it for a bit too long before eventually cutting in to mixed results) because you've seen it so much.
I'd rather have him than not but a QPR post Chair would be interesting to watch as you'd imagine a lot would go through Andersen, who doesn't dwell on the ball for anywhere near as long, and suit Marti's style better.
Chair has been a great servant for the club, and if he didn't hold on to the ball for as long and attempt those edge of the box curling shots/lofted crosses, he'd have left us several years ago - because someone would have bought him.
Apologies if I’m repeating others here but what I found frustrating with SA’s game yesterday was a failure to mix it up. Both the centre halves had him physically and weren’t that much slower pace wise, so it would have been nice to see him adopt a different approach even once.
The lack of goals from our strike force is embarrassing - would you back any of them to get near double figures next season - even if it was league one - I have my doubts.
I must confess I had an outburst after Begovic continued to stay on his line when Field was clearly asking for him to come and collect the ball. Infuriating.
Overall, he’s been a little underwhelming, perhaps he’s lost speed and mobility as we all do, be interesting to see what happens with him next season, if we do stay up.
