Everton Loaned More Money
at 22:43 30 Apr 2024

I'm getting concerned for Everton, their prospective buyers 777 Partners have loaned them another £17 million which take the debt to them over £200 million.

They also owe £158 million to MSP for the new stadium.

The BBC say:

"BBC Sport understands the club are not taking insolvency advice,, external but are considering ways of restructuring its short-term debt to make it more manageable.

The club owes about £400m to numerous third-party firms, with much of the loans being used towards the building of the new stadium.

It is believed there is currently not a threat of administration as the club remain up to date with payments to stakeholders such as the players, staff, stadium construction company Laing O'Rourke and HMRC.

Everton declined to comment."

It gets worse though

"Meanwhile, 777-owned airline Bonza went into voluntary administration on Tuesday, and the abrupt cancellation of all of its flights left thousands of passengers stranded around Australia.

The BBC is awaiting a statement from 777 regarding Bonza.

In further financial strife, 777's UK public relations advisers have stopped representing the company after the firm did not meet payments on fees and it remains to be seen whether they will re-engage."

Even if they push this deal though I truly fear they will not be good owners for Everton

Im not sure putting a player in charge will be any better than Russell Martin, none of our players have shown any real leadership qualities this season.

The only real managerial experience on the coaching staff is Colin Calderwood

Premier League to introduce spending cap

Its now a big 7 with Newcastle coming into the fold, that makes it very difficult to actually change things in the UK unless the European Super League is made a two division thing.

If you only have United, Liverpool, Manchester City and then perhaps one other in a European Super League, you still have the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs & Newcastle dominating the Premier League

Mike you turned on the manager a month ago after one of our defeats and then a couple of days later in a complete turn around changed to supporting him.

I quote you from 16th April
"Hate this tippy tappy bollox"

From 13th April
"Big fan and defender of Jack but he should not be starting ahead of Janny B or THB..
Weak management"

29th March
"Ipswich find a way to win we find a way to not. Despite having more money and better players they are going up we are not. Mentally fragile"

You have constantly slagged off the players and the tactics but bizarrely you dont seem to blame the manager for the lack of fight or tactics.

A look back at what you have written shows that you change your mind more than you change your underpants. You never explain your opinion just have a headline rant.

I agree with you we are at a vital stage of the season, but it is difficult to get behind a manager when he is the person that has destroyed a lot of the good work he did earlier in the season.

1. Russell Martin does not have a clue what to do for the best

2. Those of us in the Kingsland north had the last 5 minutes of the game with a rock band on the stage behind the stand blaring out songs long before even the 90 minutes is up, this is what we can expect going forward.

3. Just a few weeks ago we had spirit in the fan base, now that is all gone, if we get to Wembley I truly expect that we will, have the embarrassment of blocks of unsold seats.

4. Saints fans arguing amongst themselves, it almost came to blows behind me.

5. I still think we can do this if we all get behind the team as we did in 1994 & 1999 when we rescued a dire situation on the last day

Off we go again, win this and beat Leeds and we could guarantee 3rd place if we over turn a 15 goal deficit.

In simple terms if we could turn over Stoke 7-0 then we would just need to win 4-0 at Elland Road.

Anyone putting any money on that, no me neither.

We just need to get that togetherness and fight that we used to have back

Its all about opinions, mine is that over the past couple of months we have had a fragile confidence, the longer the game went on at Cardiff the more our confidence eroded, yes if we had put a second away at Cardiff it would have seen us gain in confidence and might have gone to Leicester and got a result.

That is football certain things can change games and seasons, Cardiff was a pivotal moment in the season and brought out the problems in the Leicester game

As I have always maintained, it is not about Stephens as an individual or as a player, it is about the managers fixation on him, he has played him in 5 different positions in the last few months, that in essence is why the squad has lost its confidence and fight.

Did Bazunu play last night ? did anything change in goal, everyone has their fixations

Rothwell is in and out of the side, he has scored some vital goals this season so has contributed

My only fixation is the constant chopping and changing that the manager has made in the past few months

Had the confidence and fight knocked out of them, Brooks is a very good player, but he is good when the opposition are on the back foot, when you have to dig in and grind out results he is found a little wanting

How many times did we get beat heavily with Le Tiss in the team, he was the icing on the case, but for the most part of his career here he was keeping us from getting relegated, not making us a decent team.

He was one of our greatest players, if he had played in our teams from 1980-84, with good players around him we might well have won the League

This was not about possession football, that has not been played in the last 3 games, not because of the tactics, but because the players know that they cannot play it too much along the back line as Alex McCarthy is not good enough with his feet to play it.

Last night when under pressure we did not go back to the goalkeeper unless he was under no pressure so we cleared the ball a lot more.

This was about getting caught on the break and failing to mark our players

This is the most worrying thing I have seen, so it was nothing to do with the fact that players who looked world beaters two months ago now look shells of their former selves is all down to the fact that he didn't pick Jack Stephens

One player doesn't make a team just as one player doesn't make it a bad one, as I have always said it is not about Jack Stephens as an individual, but he has become the focus of just why we have gone to pot.

In our run we had the tightest defence in the Championship during that period, so what changed ?

Since January at some point every member of that defence has either found themselves dropped or moved position to accommodate our Captain.

The manager has ruined the continuity and confidence of our back four we are now a disorganised rabble '

I feel sorry for Jack, he is a good squad player, he should be getting the plaudits for filling in for injuries and coming on in the final third to close out games, yet he is the focus for the managers failings.

We are still in the game though, if we can up our game a bit, perhaps we can get back in the game, yes it doesn't look like it at present, but neither did Cardiff look like they would get back in the game, or Sunderland and Watford for that matter
