Three is the cursed number as QPR fall in a hole at Hull - Report
at 22:25 15 Apr 2024

He’s being played out of position. We’re losing so much from not having him in the middle and next to Chair. I love what Marti has done and he obviously knows what he’s doing but for the life of me I can’t work out how he hasn’t figured out Willock is best suited in the middle. We’ve gotten absolutely nothing from Anderson there this past few weeks.

Honestly, that Begovic mistake may very well be the thing that gets us relegated.

Played very well once he was moved inside, where he has always been very effective. To be honest I’ve felt the criticism his way has been somewhat unfair given he’s playing out of position on the wing and totally isolated. He was game-changing when moved in the middle where I think he should remain.

If you think there’s a chance of us overcoming any points difference I want what you’re smoking.

Chair wasn't a 7, and I cannot bear giving Dykes a 7 after that miss, we only got away with it because of the sending off. Could and should have cost us the game.

But otherwise agree with all those ratings.

Not an easy task rating that performance, it was the worst I've seen us look under this manager and yet we got the result...

Chairs goal.

Great goal - shame he can’t do the same next week as the pest got a pointless yellow card. He would have known he was on four already and would get a ban… bloody brainless.

Just noticed at the bottom of the official announcement it says “this appointment is subject to a work visa.”

Any guesses what the next thing to go wrong will be…

I don’t think many have made that assumption. What they’re saying is, can you name a single manager in Championship history who has led more grotesquely poor teams to safe finishes than Warnock? He may not have kept us up, but he sure would have given us a chance.

I would have been thrilled with this appointment a year ago. This feels like the right appointment at the wrong time.

That is very telling... we already know other clubs are doing better than us for less, but seeing the figures only compounds how poor we are in every department.

Gareth is the main issue here

Big one for me was the team turning up late for the game. I mean just how unprofessional can you get at this level of football? Utterly embarrassing.

That is as you say squarely on the management, though as Clive often says we have been bad for several managers now so hard to argue it is entirely GA's fault, but absolutely he is only making things worse right now and needs to go.

Each goal more farcical and easier to score than the last - Report
at 17:07 9 Oct 2023

Fair assessment as ever, though when you look at the options, it’s - unless he pulls of a miracle - relegation with Ainsworth at the helm, or it’s try out luck with a new manager. We may well get relegated anyway but there’s always a (slim) chance a new manager could get something going.

Ultimately, what is going to be more financially disastrous for the club, being relegated, or paying off Ainsworth and his team? If we go down anyway then we’re toast regardless, so may at least try. I just cannot conceive that a manager can keep their job after what we’ve been whitnessing this season and after that home performance.

The real problem?
at 19:08 7 Oct 2023

It’s less about someone making us better, we simply can’t get any worse. We’ve nothing to lose now, there’s always a chance a new manager could do something, slim as it is. I have seen - and worried about when we appointed him - absolutely no evidence Ainsworth can turn this around.

Oh come on look over the long-term, the entire point of my post. You don't have to go back too far to see there was a time most people were lucky to have just one shoddy car. Now the majority of households have at the least one car, and most with sat nav and other luxuries that are relatively new but becoming increasingly standard.

As I say, innovation is everything and must be encouraged, not stifled.

India on the moon
at 08:50 25 Aug 2023

Some amusing posts on here. I’ve a feeling those complaining about India’s moon landing would have been complaining about why the UK was spending so much money on the industrial revolution rather than addressing poverty… well it worked out pretty well long-term didn’t it. Innovation is absolutely critical.

I think this demonstrates exactly what people fail to grasp, which is that money spent creates a knock-on effect. Most people are only capable of connecting the dot from £60m to moon landing, rather than continuing to connect the other dots such as jobs created and foreign investment gained, which will be crucial to the longer-term success of the Indian economy and to fighting poverty and the many other issues people on this thread have commented on. If you simple deal with the present and never look to the future, you will be stuck.

Similarly, people often complain about the amount formula one spends, without any understanding of the massive innovation that comes from this, which benefits us all by driving down the cost of the cars we buy today.

The points Lumley cost us (and they were significant due to countless errors) were likely the difference between not making the playoffs that year.

Abusing him is silly of course, but please let's not pretend that he was in an way a success story.

Is that really true about the TV money?

If yes, then getting relegated this year would be a financial catastrophe for this club which I fear we will never recover from, similar to how the Premier League has taken off and left us behind.

I can't believe I am saying this and every one of us knows it is not where we want to be, but... we are going down. We know this. If we breach FFP and get a 6-point fine, there's still a chance (with the improved squad) that we could escape relegation, as other clubs have done in the past.

However, I wouldn't trust GA to put a squad together with any kind of a budget, with no DoF, and a clear lack of knowledge of how a modern Championship team needs to be set up/put together.

So in the end, I think we are at the point where breaching FFP may be our only option, but we've now left ourselves with the wrong management team to do that anyway. We cannot win at this point.
