Midfield all over the place in the first half, Barton kept getting caught in possession, O'Neil kept going into the middle to help out leaving no one on the right. I thought Zamora did ok. Only a couple of mistakes.

We were lucky not to concede at least twice.

2nd half better. It seemed to be a 4-1-4-1 with Barton protecting the back four and he had a very good 45 minutes.

We still found it difficult as the opposition were really up for it and closed us down quickly all over the pitch.

A hard fought and welcome three points, but 'boy, did we ride out luck'.

Another poor performance against a poor team.
No creativity and Barton was just awful, O'Neil seemed to be our only good player.
Hoillet must have hamstrings pulled together by elastic bands.
Very worrying for the season ahead

The defence played well but we still could easily have shipped a few. Was Barton supposed to be a holding midfielder? If so, Lord help us, govern the number of times he lost possession. I don't see Zamora doing much wrong, mainly because I don't see him doing much at all.
So have we now got Wright Phillips and Left Phillips or Wright Phillips and Wrong Phillips? If the latter, I put my money on the wrong'un.

Metronomic progress, football for narcoleptics

We are riding our luck; we cannot continue to play like this and expect to get results - woefully short of creative strike power; all these 1-0s have been scored pretty much on the goalline

Back five looking solid as they generally cover each other's errors - and Ned looks a mighty player this season.

Injuries to Hoillett - again - and Johnson - again - rapidly dilute the quality quotient. Does Harry pick Zamora in the hope it will scare defences?

Pleased Austin got on the scoresheet - we bought him for these opportunistic goalscoring instincts

All the new boys - and there's loads of them - will take time to blend in. We criticised Mark Hughes for precisely this team turbulence last season - lets hope we can keep results rolling.(Sticks in my craw that Stoke are getting traction this season)

Finally Barton... well, whatever you may have thought about his behaviour two seasons back, there's no denying he is the class of the team - and probably the division at this point

Tick, tock, tick, tock - can we engage third gear v Brighton on Wednesday?

With so many sides playing 5 across the middle think we may just have to get used to grinding out results.

Quite liked the bravery of us going 442 for most of the season but suspect there is going to be some attempt to build the side around Carroll, a change of formation, and on yesterday's showing I am not convinced he's the prospect we've been told.

Clearly Poch will need more time to get the new players to the best system. West Ham came with only one intentent to stop a side that they were worried about.

Much better performance, just missing support for Austin. If Austin is playing as a lone striker, imho he should not go any wider than the penalty area. Too many times he was missing from the middle because he went wide and there was a lack of support from midfield. Hopefully, we will see a great improvement when Kranjar is ready,

Brighton quite a good side but never troubled Green.

On to Yeovil and let's hope Onuoha is back soon as I don't think we have an real alternative to Hill and Dunne.

Think we are going to have to get used to teams coming to Loftus Road looking for nothing more than a point and keeping all 11 men behind the ball.
Doesn't make for an interesting game but it is up to us to break them down and if we can't then that is our problem.

better performance than saturday was behind the goal at school end at Austin missed a sitter ...akkoto looks good. once again Dunne Hill O'Neil awsome but going forward cutting edge missing still another point but feel we need to improve to see off likes of Leicester Forest etc

They came for a draw and got it - we will need to get used to teams coming to hit us on the break and sticking 10 behind the ball. With just one player up top we should replace the defensive holding midfielder (Henry) with Krankie when fit or a second striker to sit alongside Charlie.

Can't help thinking that if we had Hoilett last night some of the balls over the top that found Phillips/SWP he would have got a half decent shot away.

Back four and Dunne were once again very solid.
