Nothing for me will ever beat being there in 1976, but this ran it very close A great day from start to finish, which I was able to enjoy with a three of my kids, plus my brother back from France. Early train from Salisbury which although busy from Basingstoke wasn’t overcrowded, in Spoons at Ruislip Manor at 10am, which wasn’t rammed either, and where we met Antti Neimi and his son, who’d been invited to join the London Saints there by two of my Finnish Saint mates, who had travelled over on same flight from Helsinki. Caught up with loads of friends and old workmates in pub and ground Then game went almost perfectly, with only one real moment of worry when James hit the bar. celebrations afterwards tremendous. A couple of pints near Waterloo after, then Prosecco on train back, before a few more at pub in Salisbury, before cab home at midnight. With Hampshire also stuffing Surrey, and for me to enjoy this all with my family, it was an absolutely perfect day [Post edited 27 May 17:32]

Channon better imo And soft spot for Steve Moran, who was really young when he got his back injury, and was getting better all the time before then. |

Yes forgot Kenny, but I’d put Doddy and Steve Mills ahead of him anyway Chivers considered but others better imo Ditto Rod Wallace But it’s all a matter of opinion |

Been watching Saints nearly 60 years now, first game when I was 6. in that time I’ve had the pleasure of watching numerous players who’ve come through our youth / academy teams and made a major contribution to Saints. There have been others who although making there breakthrough with Saints soon departed, and went on to international glory such as Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott The remarkable thing in this time is the lack of goalkeepers and central defenders Anyway on the basis of 10+ games for first team, and staying for a least a couple of seasons, here’s my Team playing 4 3 3 with 9 subs, I’m sure many would have alternative choices. Steve Middleton Jason Dodd Jack Stephens Malcolm Waldron Wayne Bridge Steve Williams James Ward Prowse Nick Holmes Le Tissier Mike Channon Steve Moran Subs (No Keeper) Steve Mills (would have been all time great) Francis Benali Luke Shaw Adam Lallana Trevor Hebberd Danny Wallace Terry Paine (only saw last years of Saints career) Alan Shearer Bobby Stokes (1976) |

Remember first train for JPT final was full when we left Andover. But you’ve certainly got more chance getting on train from Salisbury than one from Southampton |

Apologise to Nick, didn’t pick up original post was from November, but Tella certainly made an impact. |

Nick your stats are way out and you do him a disservice Tella has played a far more significant roll than you suggest He started 8 Bundesliga games, came on as sub in 16 games, scored 5 goals and 4 assists Started 8 Europa League games, used sub in 2 scored 1 goal, 1 assist In German Cup started started 1, used sub 1 Also started 3 for us , scoring once and one assist So done really well in my opinion , and likely to finish with 3 medals at the end of the season https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-tella/leistungsdaten/spieler/340322 |

Updated train times on both National Rail and SW Trains websites. There are now 3 extra trains by the looks of things, 0850, 0950 and 1050 to Waterloo That’s in addition to the usual 7.55, 8.26, 8.55, 9.25, 9.55, 10.25 Mind you would expect queues at Central to get on the trains |

I wouldn’t be surprised if SW Trains put on some additional trains |

Big difference our fans didn’t attack the opposition teams coaches, as Liverpool fans have done on several occasions |

Not sure if Leeds have sold out, but they will have loads of fans who know they will not get a ticket, so would be tempted to try and get a membership, but seems Saints are wise to this now, so may have stopped membership purchases |

7.27 for Salisbury boys to Waterloo, train starts at Salisbury, so should be fine for Seats going up at least. £30.70, return with split tickets, Salisbury to Andover, Andover to Basingstoke in group of on Sunday Day out returns, then travelcard from Basingstoke |
