Hojbjerg about to enter the final year of his contract and won't be offered a new deal - I know a few who want him back !! We should swap McCarthy + cash for Kelleher, but doubt Liverpool would go for it. We need to strengthen in many areas if we are to compete. Wonder what will happen to the likes of Che and Stu now we have been promoted. |

Didn't he join a golf club or renew his membership somewhere, prior to him leaving us to join Villa ? It's not like he can't afford it :-) |

Leeds had a free kick in about the 100th or 101st minute. Yes Aribo was standing too close to the ball to waste time, but that does not give the Leeds player the right to take 1 step and kick our man. He deliberately missed the ball (from a very close) to kick Aribo. I get he was frustrated and lost his temper because Leeds had basically lost at that stage, but it was deliberate. If he did that it the Prem, he would have got a straight red for violent conduct. VAR should have intervened. But hey, who really cares anyway. It was at the end of the game, it didn't change the outcome and we won !! :-) |

He let too much go unpunished early on. The shirt pull on Aribo after about 10 mins was blatant and worthy of a card - regardless of what minute it was in. There was also a bad foul on Downes that looked worthy of a card, but we didn't even get a free kick. (All still a bit of a blur, so can't remember when this was !!). I felt that he was quick to dish out a few yellow cards to Saints players, but lacked consistency by not giving cards to Leeds players for similar actions. By far the worst decision of the day was at the very end. The Leeds defender blatantly booted Aribo up in the air, as our 'indestructible' tried to delay a free kick being taken. Instead of a red for the Leeds player kicking out, both he and Aribo got yellows. It was violent conduct and VAR should have intervened, but as it was a Leeds player and at the end of the game, they didn't bother. |

You finished in 16th place in League 2, just 9 years ago - that is the 84th position trophy !! As for Henry, he joined Arsenal in 1999 and left in 2007. We saw him for 7 years (1999 to 2005) and you saw him for only 5 (2003 to 2007). |

Don't forget that there will also be VAR on Sunday, so Jarred Gillett could play an important role too !! |

We used to go there years back for England games. It was handy for meeting mates who were travelling to London from all over the country and on the Metropolitan Line it is only 2 stops from Baker Street to Wembley Park. Now though, we hate it. It is way too busy, the queues to get served are as stupid as their prices and the glasses are plastic. There are loads of alternatives (thanks for the earlier recommendations), so I'm sure we will be fine on Sunday. Edit - got confused with the Globe at Baker Street (equally as bad). There are a few Green Man pubs about though, but not a fan of the one at Wembley either. :-) [Post edited 24 May 14:55]

It happened twice, so hardly regular and both games had an early red card for us, with the 2nd game also having a 2nd red card for us. Perhaps you have forgotten that your record top flight defeat is 10-0. If only you had played a bit more regularly in the top flight, the same could have happened to you, but only having played a paltry 8 seasons since 1959 suggests that isn't going to happen any time soon. |

I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere near Wembley on Saturday evening, as it will be full of red and blue Mancs, down for the FA Cup final. |

We went from B/stoke for the JPT. All trains were absolutely heaving coming out of Southampton and a couple of guys we knew who were trying to get on at Parkway couldn't get on 2 trains, so decided to drive up to B/stoke and go via Reading. We also took the Basingstoke - Reading - Paddington route and it was fine. |

Our group's tickets were purchased on Sunday and arrived 20 minutes ago. |

Have no fear !! Next season, all our current loaned out players will have returned and will be ready to represent our club :-) Lis, Perraud, Bella-Kotchap, Caleta-Car, Lyanco, Onuachu and Alcaraz. |

Anyone go to the Alan Knight testimonial ? That was a far worse pitch invasion :-) |

In a game of that magnitude, that 'just one pen missed' could have had the worst consequences for us. To try to defend the ref by brushing off a crucial decision like that is very strange. The one he gave us didn't make up for it, as it was when the game was already won. |

I am not saying we should sign him, but he wasn't overrated when he was with us. We signed him on loan as an unknown 19 year old Chelsea Youth striker and as 5th choice in our front line. He was only supposed to get the odd bit of game time, but with injuries to other forwards and his performances from the bench, he got his reward. We made him into the player he became, hence why Chelsea wanted top money for him (£50m allegedly). Then he had that awful injury and has, like many other players, struggled a bit since. He wasn't rated at all when he came to us, so he definitely could not be one of the most overrated players we've had in years. |

He really did. Search back and find examples. RH was a troubled man and well into the start of his demise. He must have been really desperate to blame and 5th choice 19 year old loanee striker for our lack of goals in specific games and for the awful run we had at the end of that season. Che is a supposed Prem Striker. He has dropped down a division, so should really be top of the class. He didn't even hit the heights he achieved with Birmingham City at this level (22 goals in his last season), that prompted us to buy him. As I said in another thread, he has underachieved and really should have scored 7-10 more goals than this season's tally. Maybe as he is in the last year of his contract has affected him ? However and rather embarrassingly, this is the first time he has hit double figures in league goals for us - at the 5th time of asking !! Broja was just a young unheard of when we signed him on loan, as a 5th choice striker. |
| Forum Reply | Broja at 13:26 8 May 2024
He was isolated from play because RH played him as a lone striker, with very little support - then threw him under the bus and blamed solely him for the lack of goals and results in our poor end of season run. ......forgetting that he only signed 19 year old Broja as a back up striker, to give a bit of game time to occasionally off the bench and get him up to speed in the Prem. Then there were injuries to the likes of Che, A Arm, Long and Theo, so he got a chance, performed well and started to get picked ahead of said 4. We put him on the map and boosted his alleged transfer asking price to £50m. (It is probably only a third of that now). With Che out of contract in the summer, he has done little to suggest he is worth a new contract, so although Broja may not be our answer as a partner to RS, I wouldn't say no, as long as he has fully recovered from that awful injury. Mara's return this season has been very poor, especially considering we have dropped down a league. His attitude and motivation has also been questionable at best and his all round contribution to the team and our style of play has been a massive failure. If we'd had a fully fit squad this season and knowing RM's obsession with wingers, I am not sure Mara would have even made the bench that many times. |

Or text Nick @ Saints Away Travel. He has helped me with a ticket a couple of times and likewise, we have sold on a spare or 2 to him. |
