Indie. It was basically a load of unlistenable cock.

Gang of poxy Four. Four too f ucking many.

The Pop Group. The Arse Group.

The Slits. The Slots.

Indie. Short hand for complete f ucking cobblers.

But anyway:

Kirsty. God bless ya gal.

I’d never heard that before. I liked the tube train thing at the start. The test was bollocks but certainly happy I heard it.

I’d listen to that bollocks again. Bit too yelpy.

Indie thread, then all you old codgers post Baggy and Madchester

I recently read Meet Me In The Bathroom about the New York indie scene from 2001, fun read. Some hits with facts

The Strokes got Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich to produce their second album. However their mate who produced the first one got in Julian's ear about it sounding different so they binned him. The band were apparently disappointed the end result unsurprisingly sounded exactly the same as their first album

Karen O allegedly punched Courtney Love, though she denies it

James Murphy of DFA, produced, co wrote loads of the Rapture's second album.....which they then took to another label

Murphy was heartbroken and made this, almost as a joke, but it started the whole LCD story

Jaleel from TV on the Radio complains they were the type of band girls said "Do you wanna get coffee with me and my husband" which is nonsense cos when we met him we offered him a taco

Interpol struggled to make their third album cos Paul Banks was really into speed balls, and Carlos D was having loads of threesomes with "chubby goths"

Big thanks Robith for the book recommend, just started it and it's wonderful, a time warp back to a great time of mid/late 20s single life, gigs and beer. I love how the author just melds all the recollections of all the main players, I didn't expect that approach and it works really well.

So of course it's got me revisiting all the albums from that time, and bands I missed like Jonathan Fire*eater. Listened to Is This It? last night for the first time in years; got Turn On The Bright Lights on the go right now - what a fcking debut album that is.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

Really entertaining isn't it? Couldn't believe I'd never heard of Jonathan Fire*eater - it's Walter Martin ffs!

I also love how everyone hates the Libertines in it. Even if I didn't know some of the recent stuff about Ryan Adams, he comes out of it all very badly

one of my best gig experiences was experiencing this at the Apollo in Manchester, the release of energy from the crowd when this hits home

One of my favourite live bands

Love Primal Scream, they keep trying new styles some good some bad.

And to finish , if you have seen them live you know
