You'll have these things smuggling meat across the DMZ within a year.

I would just like to point out it's not the breed that's the problem here, but it's the owners.

And if you ban them, then it will only go underground!

Talking of "Eating Dogs" - and going lateral with it, for me, Prince Phillip was a closet stand up comedian.

Once speaking to Susan Edwards, who is blind, wheelchair bound and was accompanied by her guide dog, he remarked : "Do you know they're now producing eating dogs for the anorexics?"

Mrs Edwards later said: "It sounds like he was saying something terrible, but he was just making a joke."

(However, Doreen Williams, the Director of Anorexia and Bulimia Care in Britain, thought the Prince's comments both "hurtful" and "unhelpful". ) -

Yes, I get that and the illness is real, present in some people's lives and debilitating, but with specialist-trained dogs for sight and hearing and, of course Phillip having previously been aware of Diana's illness, the thought/ concept of having dogs for another illness is 'observational humour' at its best.

Whenever anyone mentions 'eating dogs' I don't see the dog on the table as such, I have an image of Prince Phillip - the comedian

I went to Japan / South Korea for the 2002 World Cup. I thought "when in Rome..." & decided to give the dog meat a try.
It was actually really hard to find.
I got a tip-off from a Leeds United fan I met at the Senegal v Denmark match. He told me a particular tube stop to go to in Seoul and drew me a little map showing where to go from there.
It was down a little backstreet of very traditional restaurants. I went in and ordered "bosintang" which is dog meat soup.
When it arrrived the soup had some non-descript pieces of grey looking meat in it. It looked a bit a kind of lamb & onion stew. But it was incredibly spicy, so I've no idea what the actual meat tasted like.

I'm a dog owner myself, but even so I think it's a bit hypocritical of people to complain about it. Why is eating dog any worse than eating other meat?
It's not like they're stealing people's pet dogs off the street, the dogs are bred specially for the meat industry. Yes, I understand that it's cruel and all that, but so is the breeding and slaughtering of cows / pigs / sheep / chicken etc.

I ate whale meat in Norway and was made to feel like a paedo for it by the Norwegian lads I was with. Meat eating cultures are dying out, as is western meat consumption in general.

The climate will ultimately force us all off meat eventually.

Yes, only the wealthy will be entitled to meat, the peasants shall return to chewing the cud.

As an old Smith and Jones once said “ In Korea , a dog is not just for Christmas. With a bit of luck , there should be some left for Boxing Day” 🤦🏼‍♂️

“backs broke bendin' makin' holes to plant the seeds,
The owners ate the cane and the workers ate the weeds”

That's a great couplet.

When I was in my first year of uni, our halls comprised of these mini flats of 4-5 rooms. One of my "flat" mates was a lad from South Korea by way of every international school going. I think his dad kept paying for high end schooling overseas to keep him out of the army service.

Anyway, one day I come into our communal kitchen and he's cooking with a Korean mate. I go to say hi and he goes "Oh my god, shut the door!!!" very angrily.

I do and an ask what's up. He looks from side to side and says "We're cooking dog for a taste of home"

Now, this lad was a primo grade a pisstaker, so my first reaction was bullsh!t. So I told him so.

No, he insisted. They'd found a connect near Chinatown (our halls were in Holborn) and taken a huge risk and were now cooking it ASAP as the penalties are severe. My scepticism is melting, as I'd never seen him like this. Very panicked, bordering on very upset.

He sets about getting me to try some. I'm very resistant - if nothing else I'm a goodie two shoes, I don't want to do anything illegal. But after a lot of back and forth, they've finished cooking and I've given in. He holds up a piece of meat, and I tentatively take it into my mouth and chew

"What do you think?"

"You know, it's very similar to chicken"

"That's because it is chicken, you racist motherf**ker!!"
