U's to host England U20's 18:31 - Aug 28 with 616 viewsmfb_cufc

Colchester United's JobServe Community Stadium will welcome its seventh international fixture, when England U20s come to the town in November.

England U20s will play two home internationals this autumn as they look to test themselves against some of the best sides in Europe.

Paul Simpson’s side will face Italy at AFC Fylde’s Mill Farm stadium on Thursday 11th October (7pm KO).

The Young Lions will then take on Germany at the Jobserve Community Stadium in Colchester on Monday 19th November (7pm KO).

Tickets are on sale now for both fixtures priced £3 for adults and £1 for children.

England will also play Switzerland at St. George’s Park in an invite-only fixture on Thursday 6 September, before facing the Netherlands away (Monday 10 September).

Simpson said: “I am delighted to be able to take our U20s on the road to play these stadium games.

“Italy and Germany will provide our players with a real stern test as we look to continue the good work of last season’s U20s in the European elite league fixtures.

“AFC Fylde and Colchester United will provide us with excellent stadiums to host these games and hopefully we can get an enthusiastic atmosphere for the players as they continue their international development.

“Our long-term aim for this group of players is for them to progress to the Under-21s and senior teams, and that is the challenge for the season for all of the players we will be selecting.”

Tim Waddington, general manager at Colchester United, said: “We are delighted to once again be welcoming The FA and an England side to our home venue in Colchester. In little over ten years, we’ve been honoured to have an international fixture on seven occasions and we look forward once again to welcoming the best of this country’s young footballing talent.

“These games are a fantastic opportunity to show what we offer at Colchester United, and we look forward to having another big crowd for the match in November.”

AFC Fylde chairman David Haythornthwaite said: “Everyone at the club is very excited about this tremendous opportunity to showcase our facilities. This would have been unthinkable five years ago and shows how far we as a club have come.

“I am extremely proud that The FA has chosen us to host this game and can assure everyone concerned we will do everything in our power to ensure a successful game both off and on the pitch.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone associated with the English and Italian FAs to Mill Farm on 11th October."

With the adult price at only £3 there is every chance this game will produce a full house.

If so where will everybody park?

Will the shuttle buses be reinstated for this game?

Why have shuttle buses for this game and not for Us games? Or for concerts and not Us games? If the alternative methods of transport to the stadium are good enough for Us fans then they should be good enough for everyone else. Or will the desire to court the occasional visitor be greater than the desire to maintain a relationship with the core fan base?

Poll: Safe standing at football; yes, know or don't know?
