I’ll throw this one into the ring. Serie B in Italy do a similar thing as to what is being proposed eg. Top 2 automatic with 3rd to 8th having a play-off. BUT if there’s a gap of 14 or more points between 3rd & 4th then 3rd goes up automatically and there are no … repeat no play-offs.
We’re talking 2 (TWO) extra fixtures in the season and if they made the play off semi-final one leg we’re talking no extra fixtures. Currently if you finish in the top quarter of the league you’re in the play-offs. The new system would mean if you finish in the top third of the league you’re in the play-offs. Adds a scintilla more randomness to what is already a random league. To be honest I’m not too bothered either way on this but there’s some hysterical reaction against it on this thread.
Big gamble with 10 games remaining. It’ll take the team 5 games to adapt to De Zerbi’s style and another 5 for them to win enough points to get out of the bottom 3.
The Scottish Leagues are to vote soon to see if they want goal-difference introduced to separate teams level on points at the end of a season rather than the current system of the divination and interpretation of charred chicken bones.
Just dawned on me Sven sadly passed away 18 months ago so it’s Tord Grip and an ouija board in charge. Rumours that David Sullivan has contacted Spaceman (undisclosed offer) to start the match thread.
