Tyrese Sinclair has signed for York City today. York have been busy in the transfer market. |

As you say the constituency boundaries have changed including taking Spotland and Falinge out of Rochdale into Heywood North. I suspect that a lot of Galloway voters could be affected by this. |

Thanks for clarifying that Chaff. I’ve no axe to grind over this issue, just wondering why the uptake hasn’t matched that of last year. Tickets went on sale on the first week of the month last year though when everyone had been paid, and, if you were paying by credit card, the purchase wouldn’t have been on the June statement in most cases but rather that of July. And in the seven days following the first day of sales we signed three players. Not a peep this time although I certainly don’t expect to see any of last seasons squad re-signing for a good few weeks. I’m sure they’ve alternative offers to consider. |

I think there may be a few factors here. As mentioned above a lot of people don’t get paid until the end of the month. I’m pretty sure they went on much earlier last year. No squad signings. No fixtures. No incentive for season ticket holders in the Sandy to buy before the day before the first home game of the season. As an exile I want to see how many games I can get to; it’s odds-on I’ll buy a season ticket but another type of card may be an option. |

I worked at BAE in Barrow in the 1970s (or Vickers as it was known in then) and there was a palpable fear in those days as to what would happen to the town if GB scrapped it’s nuclear deterrent. In those days there was even a direct express rail link to London for MOD bigwigs to get there easily. Any prospective MP wouldn’t have stood a chance if he’d been anti Polaris/Trident. I think there are around 12000 on the dockyard workforce at the moment with another 5000 projected jobs. And these jobs are well paid. Those jobs could all have gone in ten years though so there’s no long term planning for infrastructure or facilities. Like the 11000 working up the coast at Sellafield it’s all short term , living for the present attitudes prevailing. |

A general election looms….I believe that nominations for the Labour candidate close at 5.00pm on Monday with Dale exile fan Paul Waugh being the favourite. I wonder if David Tully will stand again? |

Pete Wild leaves Barrow. I’m sure he won’t be out of work for long. |

Straight through to Warrington on the Chester train? Could be a good day out. |

I was at York’s stadium last weekend and did the full tour, something I didn’t manage when Dale were there last August. The complex has commercial partners like a cinema and a bowling alley but also local authority amenities like a leisure centre including a swimming pool and a library. This mix of private investment and public money really looks to work. Could something like that work in Rochdale? And would it be an attractive proposition for the Ogdens? |

Am I right in thinking that until then Smith had mainly been used as a central defender since his arrival from Leeds? |

Is that around the time that Richley left out Vince Radcliffe and replaced him with Graham Smith at right back? I think Radcliffe only played one more game that season, at centrehalf for Colin Parry at Scunthorpe in March? It was the only game that Parry missed and the team stayed remarkably free from injury. Other people believe that the arrival of Dick Connor as coach in December was significant. |

You can’t accuse Fred and the board of not backing the manager around this time. To find £5k for Buck was ambitious. There had been an awful lot of 1-1 draws just after the start of the season with Steve Melledew seeming to score in most of them so the defence was pretty solid but these were converted into wins after Christmas. |

I’d completely forgotten about Terry Melling’s hat-trick. He’d arrived the previous September to score goals and hadn’t really done so; he got three in one game and Dale went and bought Tony Buck! I think we’d lost at Workington over Christmas but after that couldn’t stop scoring. Even Norman Whitehead scored with a header in this one! What stuck in my mind as a 14 year old was the conundrum that such crap opponents played in such a massive stadium. The way that Park Avenue was allowed to disappear as a venue was scandalous and that includes the county cricket ground next door. |

Griffiths got his in an FL Trophy game against Scarborough. Am I right in remembering that he had scored two and then, when Dale were awarded a penalty late on, he was given the ball to complete his hat-trick? |
