Since people seem to be doing pretty much whatever they like now, I’m going to suggest fans might be allowed back into stadiums for the new season. What do we think will happen? I can see a temp ban on away supporters (or at least an away end). Household members being forced to sit together and obviously seat spacing so nobody has a seat occupied around, in front or behind them. Face masks compulsory and the Happy Mondays. I’m not sure what they’ll do with terraces that are not those fancy new ones. Maybe boxes on the floor and angry stewards enforcing it. Obviously no pies.
So since we're lush with dollars (apparently that is how the kids talk on tiktok) Spotland is looking pretty tired. I think it's about time we brought it into 1998 and got ourselves one of those fancy telly scoreboards. Not the flippy one that was clearly just a way to get advertisements facing the main road. Just a regular telly scoreboard. For stuff like the score, information, highlights and.. advertising! Our excellent commercial department could really do with this extra money generating option.
I had a price of £65 return from where I live to Newcastle. Using the Northern Rail sale I managed to get returns between Carlisle and Newcastle for 20p (Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning) and the other leg of my journey for a tenner return. There's lots of other routes available too. In case anyone is interested it's worth a look: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/sale
Today we saw something fantastic. Joey T completing his battle against Cancer for the second time by returning to professional Football. The enormity of what he's achieved shouldn't be lost in what was a disappointing team performance. I also thought he did pretty well when he came on. Welcome back, Joey.
Please, can this song stop being played at full time? There must be an Inspiral Carpets song that'd be a better fit. Saturn 5 for a victory or draw, Let you down for a defeat. See I'm not just complaining. I come with ideas too.
Sky is set to retain the rights to the Football League in a blockbuster bidding battle with BT that has seen the price as much as double to £180m a season.
The Football League is understood to have entered into exclusive talks with Sky for the live rights, in a three to five-year deal worth between £500m and £900m.
The official announcement, which could come as soon as Wednesday, will scupper any hope that the recent years of inflationary bids for the crown jewels of sport might be at an end.
....
ITV is heavily tipped to win the Football League highlights rights from Channel 5.
More money for The Championship, it's players and agents then.
Granada Men and Motors have a YouTube channel and recently they've been scraping the barrel and posting old Football interviews done by Matey FM's Jimmy Wagg for their low-budget cool station from the 90s. They're generally as you'd expect of a low budget 90s LAD culture satellite station, but this one featuring a green screen, a swaying camera and zoomy camera tricks is hysterical. I'd love to see Matey FM simulcast over the web like this.
Greg Clarke: England chants 'inappropriate, disrespectful and disappointing' Behaviour of a section of England fans in Germany was "inappropriate, disrespectful and disappointing", says FA chairman Greg Clarke. England lost 1-0 to Germany in Dortmund on Wednesday night, but a section of England supporters booed the German national anthem and sung chants referencing World War Two. It is understood that the FA is trying to gather footage of the behaviour. If found to be involved, supporters could be banned from attending games. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39370763
Good. It's about time. Those songs are embarrassing. Hopefully we'll do the same to anyone who sings about "Bury Bombers" and the "RAF from Rochdale". I LITERALLY nearly died from the cringe the last time I heard that. Any instances I see of it will be recorded and uploaded to the internet, where those annoying clickbait farm twitter accounts can share it amongst unbelievable goals, great betting odds, arsenal fan tv rants and wag tits.
Since folk are getting stuff off their chest, let me add that the toilets in the Pearl St. Stand are a disgrace. They always stink but an hour before kick off I went in there and I nearly gagged. How difficult is it to just throw a load of acid at them and get the fire brigade to hose them out. Health and Safety should close them down. If they're not smelling like strong bleach at the next home game i'm reporting them to Health and Safety or whoever you're supposed to. Seriously. As the yoof in my day would say, they're hangin or mingin, I forget which it is now. Is it impossible to do the basics?
...there were some crackin' long throws from their lads. That one that nearly made the penalty spot was just great stuff. Just like watching Brazil. Second Tier stuff. Outstanding.
I know this is stating the bleedin' obvious, but it's worth mentioning.
Traffic will be heavy tomorrow between Preston and joining the M55. With it being Summer and the weekend you get heavy traffic for Blackpool and the Lakes. It's been really bad all week and last week going down to Spotland, the traffic was queuing a long way back onto the 61 coming towards Blackpool. Even the 55 was very busy.
Obviously a #great weekend was #had by #all at the recent #BL9Weekender. It's #natural that people will be having #withdrawal #symptoms from such an epic event, so I made a Spotify Playlist to bring back the great #memories of #Coolio, #Razorlight, #Coolio, #HappyMondays, #Coolio and many others.
