The Robins to be plucked by Danny's banditos
at 11:28 30 Nov 2025

On the subject of children, of course it's great that they are getting to see live professional football early in life, but some are maybe a bit too young to appreciate it! In the East Stand you have to be prepared to have the back of your seat kicked. They all seem to do it, and parents rarely tell them to stop.

I thought we were a bit passive towards the end of the first half. Much flailing of arms from DC. Overall it was not a taxing game against a very poor Cheltenham side. After a slightly below par first half, Mbick rediscovered his touch in the second half, and what a finish! Agree about Hunt. Looked very solid in that role. Araujo continues to impress. I don't think we miss Flanagan too much. And it's a promising sign that we can perform so well without Payne, who previously looked indispensable.

Match Previews In Honour Of Durham

I've got a lot of sympathy for your point of view. At a time when people seemed to be coming together after the death of a valued contributor to this forum, I find it hard to understand negativity to another contributor. Especially as no one is forced to read anything if they find it irrelevant.

Durham Exile AKA Peter Nicholls Sad News

Have been away, so have just seen this. Belated condolences to the family and friends. As a relative newcomer to this forum, only ever read his posts, which were always full of enthusiasm and optimism for the Club. A very good counterbalance to my own innate pessimism!

Ravens to have their wings clipped at lunchtime

Exactly right, especially about slow pace. Against such a big powerful side need to move the ball quickly. Too many high balls were meat and drink to their defenders. The triumvirate of Tovide, Mbick and Lisbie didn't work at all well. Disappointing and a few steps back from recent good performances.

Lyle probably enjoyed a brandy and cigar this evening!

Their first two goals were from schoolboy mistakes - the first was a simple ball behind the defender and then Macey came out when he should have stayed put. The second a terrible mistake by Tucker but he's done so well recently he can be forgiven. Agree about Araujo and Mbick - we haven't missed Flanagan and Tovide still looks a shadow of his former self.

I thought we should have had a definite penalty for the push. However, the ref was consistent in allowing a fair amount of physical contact from both sides, which was good to see. Also kept the game moving and wasn't fooled by the antics of players on either side. I've seen worse from referees this season. Agree about Macey. Doesn't use his height to advantage as much as he could, and can't remember the last time he made a really crucial save.

Unbeaten run to continue at home to the Sulphurites on Saturday

Mbick looks better and better as he gets more game time. A classy player, languid and very skilful. Hope his parent club doesn't recall him!

Consistency of selection is key and, injuries permitting, the team picks itself at the moment. I agree that Anderson will start and Edwards will be on the bench.

I'm not going to say anything about the rights or wrongs of the decision to ban the Maccabi fans from attending, but I think it will be reversed and the game will go ahead with both sets of fans present.

Grimsby to be battered by Super U's on Saturday

You are right about the Harvey booking. Didn't do himself any favours by smirking after receiving the card. I thought the ref might disallow the second due to a raised foot from Mbick, but thankfully he saw sense and a beautiful goal was scored.

I haven't seen, or want to see, the crap on so called social media. But criticism (not abuse) is fair play for professional sportsmen

A fair assessment. I think Lyle was good for him last season, but to make it you need to be able to play well with the current squad. He was also dire on Saturday. Though, to be fair, I think he has slightly reduced the histrionics. He looks heavier and slower. That said, we pulled the game out of the fire, which gives some optimism for Grimsby.

Anderson fires U's ahead the Spireites at the JCS

Fair comments. But I'm amazed that no one has mentioned probably the main reason for the improvement - the return of Iandolo, who was immense and sent a wave of confidence through the whole team.

Ha ha! Eating humble pie right now! Great day at the JCS. But we do need to follow it up over the next several games...

One of the worrying things about DC's recent musings is the way that he keeps mentioning the loss of Ben Perry, and how crucial he is to the team. I find that comment bizarre, given the fact that Perry has started precisely three league games and, although tidy enough, didn't exactly set the world alight. Odd.

The best management team in league Two. Really? It's true that we had a couple of excellent runs last season, including five consecutive wins in the first half of March. But after that it was just two wins from nine and ultimately we didn't look like contenders for a play off spot. This season we have one win from ten, and two extremely tricky games coming up. I hope it doesn't happen, but it could quite easily become one win from twelve games. At what point do you think most fans will say this just isn't working? One win from 14, one from 16? To me, the current situation seems at least as bleak as the early part of last season. And it's not just the lack of wins, but the style of play, which has become conservative and boring.

My previous post crossed with this one. I can't see the Cowleys having had that sort of robust conversation with the owner. And if they did, then he clearly didn't make more money available for players. So the only additional financial commitment made was to the Cowleys! Good for them, but not for the Club.
