Showed his experience + played well at Plymouth until unfortunate deflection. Well done Marti for giving Albert and the home fans that opportunity v Leeds. |

Whats not to love about this bloke, grew up between Shepherds Bush and Greenford I think he mentioned, and supported his local club, Started his playing career for Old Meadonians in Chiswick and ended up playing 500+ games of football in the highest levels of English football, Obviously has the work ethic and good character to be an excellent coach and sure every QPR fan wishes his all the best and hopes we'll see him about the place again soon, That goal at Coventry and his celebration at Leyton Orient with the fans are two for starters than will live long in the memory. |

Friends Leeds work colleague at the game was archetypal arrogant Leeds fan, Turns to me after watching our victory lap / celebrations after the final whistle and said 'all this because you beat Leeds' heh Just politely reminded him as obviously does'nt follow Championship football that 1) We needed to win to stay up 2) It was our last home match and the players always walk around the pitch to thank the fans after the last home match.... Was too euphoric to think to say 'you're a guaranteed 3 points anyway' so get over yourself. Love the Leicester fans song the other night, ripping off Leeds finest The Kaiser Chiefs singing....'I predict the play-offs'....fair play Leicester fans that's very quick witted. |

Probably read that on a Brentford Forum given their ongoing desperate quest to find a club that thet can say are there rivals. |
| Forum Reply | Andre Dozzell at 15:08 30 Apr 2024
Colback playing out from the back was noticeably good against Leeds, With Dozzell we were playing with 10 men, You just cannot have a player sitting in front of the defence who is flat-footed, slow off the mark, is poor in the tackle, poor in the air and doesn't have the stamina required to break the line to give an option to take a return pass, Probably a great Futsal player, but Midfielder in a struggling Championship side, never. |
| Forum Reply | Ilias Chair at 17:07 29 Apr 2024
I'd rather we hold on to Chair and see if Marti (as our attacking Coach) can continue to work on his weaknesses to compliment his undoubted strengths, Already becoming less predicatable by going outside and using left foot more and set-pieces improving, A really good Coach could double Chair's value, which is what we need our Coach's to do. |

I kind of agree as thought he was maybe too much a purist for too long and not sure whether his hand was forced by injuries to Cannon, Frey and even my man Hadeyn at very opportune times. I know I'll get ridiculed in the current overwhelming relief and euphoria but times I wasn't really sure he was going to learn fast enough on the job. I thought I'd hold off posting on this till we were safe as one more Quarter Back Monday and Northern would have consigned me to the back bar in The Goldhawk on a cold winters evening (think Siberian Gulag cold for those who'd never frequented) |

Agree on Blackburn game worst than Arsenal + Newcastle 0-6 defeats, sure that was the game I saw Colback coaching SDM and just thought what gave you been doing all week in training, truly shocking. |

Could be wrong but thought Marti over'rotated with his lone striker for those two key games which was why I was relieved when Frey pulled up lame for the run-in. A settled team was crucial for the run-in, be it defence, midfield or attack and I thought Dykes would be an important part of that as he was last season, Though I underestimated just how important Colback was to our midfield by opening up both sides of the pitch and playing on the half-turn (right call there Gazza) |

Season had 3 parts... Part 1 Ainsworth Part 2 Marti + key players return from injury Part 3 Post transfer window Only Ainsworth thought we'd stay up in 1st Part, I was confident after Willock returned so impressively at Preston away, even more confident when we offloaded Dozzell and it helped when Frey became unavailable during run-in meaning Marti had to stop over-rotating our front-line. |

I think he's actually played better in recent games but that aggression from the off really helped the team and Leeds fan I brought to game thought Ref was too lenient with his aerial challenges early on. Without going too psychological I think he lacks confidence and when you compare him to Austin you see those big differences in character, one poor finish from Dykes and you can see his head drop whereas Austin was never phased by a miss, bit like his penalties Austin was a poor penalty taker but always wanted to take them. If I ever meet Dykes I'd just say, as you've said before go full Aussie Rules aerial aggression from the first minute and you'll grow in confidence and play well. A little like most players, even Chair, gets a good goal as suddenly his corners start beating the first man and his set-pieces are on point. |

Just watched the highlights, first goal for us always key and two very good set pieces from Chair (where were these all season) and was wrong earlier as he's a very strong contender for MOTM. Hopefully another season under Marti's coaching can double his value. |

I'm just thankful he wasn't available for the run-in, just my opinion and could be wrong but just didn't suit how we play. |

You're point about Willock + Chairs license to wander with the ball but structured and disciplined without was key to our attacking play and the first time I noticed a clear plan in our attacking play. Wollock + Chair are so much more effective when playing closer together than 50 yards apart on opposite sides of the pitch. Also, Dykes who is a confidence player is so much more effective when he goes full Aussie Rules aggression from the off as winning a few of those early aerial battles lifts his and the teams confidence. First time in a long time I thought we had a cohesive attacking unit last night. |

Agree Gazza, Colback was excellent on the half turn last night and got us on the front foot and ahead, Strong candidate for MOTM although JCS excellent, Chair a special mention for two good set pieces but over the full 90 thought Field was immense. |

A very good albeit deflected shot and better ss playing closer to Willock as always but unlikely in most fans top 3..mine would be.... 1st Field, never gave them time 2nd JCS, so composed under pressure 3rd Colback, that half turn got us on the front foot |

Still going strong? Not sure about that when you look at their numbers. Minimal net worth and working capital. Wish him well, like Roy is a grafter, but maybe our lot should do their 'fit & proper' due diligence before agreeing to these sponsorship deals. |

Brian, you saw it right, raise your profile, no doubt employ a consultant to lobby for an honour, bag said honour, get various non exec roles, move on up, fair play to the lad, you gotta fake it to make it, sometimes.. |

Bush lad but was a Spurs fan when I knew him in 80's / 90's Fair play, we helped raise his profile, awarded OBE for services for Social Mobility, we move on. |
| Forum Reply | Next season - 4 key players for us to keep at 11:51 25 Apr 2024
Good post, agree with most, not all, Just really depends on Cifuentes preferred formation and attacking style of play which I have'nt really been able to work out yet, Going without saying the absence of a fully fit Chris Willock has blunted our attacking play this season and have mentioned before we need to re-position Chair if we're ever to see him hit the numbers he should be, I'd risk selling JCS and Paal as believe Dunne & Larkeche can adequately replace, big question for this summer is to either re-position or sell Chair. |
