Thanks for the resource. Concerned about the accuracy though as it says we've conceded six and five have been successful but didn't Goodman save a penalty against both Morecambe and Sutton?

17? That is bonkers! I know they don't particularly like defending but that still seems like a crazy amount. How many have we conceded? Seven or eight? McGeehan would've been my pick after the two misses from Chilvers but his effort against Stockport wasn't great. Read perhaps? Or do we bring on Matt Jay to take it? Didn't he used to take penalties for Exeter?

Col U Matches Prediction League 2023-24 - Match 44

Notts County V Col U

Deadline - 15:00 20th April 2024

Scoring system:
2 points for a correct win result
3 points for a correct draw result
1 bonus point for each correct team score
1 bonus point for overall correct score (not applicable for draws)

This means a spot on is worth five points but you could also get a point if you predicted Col U to win 2-1 and they drew 1-1 and you'd get three points if it finished 2-0 or 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 etc.

All welcome.

Anyone know if McGeehan will be suspended again?
at 19:12 10 Apr 2024

Oh right, that does make sense then. As long as they're not counting the second yellows that led to a red then he should be ok as he "only" has the 12 bookings to his name.

Wouldn't that have been to prevent him getting another red card last night though?

Picked up a 12th booking of the season last night (14 if you include the second bookings that led to a red card) not sure if that means he's due another suspension. He seems to be our main goal threat and will be a big miss if not available.

At the end of the day you can see it however you want to see it, some people will agree with you, others will not. If your outlook is that we've got worse and are only likely to get worse still then I guess you won't be disappointed if that happens. I'm naturally more optimistic and feel that in the last 15 games we've shown enough to imply that we can compete at the top end of this division. Hopefully next season we'll get to find out who's view is closer to reality.

Performances have been far better than the results suggest. We've only got 15 points from those games but could easily be half of that again with a bit more luck and some better finishing. Out of those 15 games you could argue we've been the better side in at least 10 of them and no one has come close to outplaying us. Add in a bit of confidence and momentum and all of a sudden we're a good side again. As I said above, not many players will be leaving so it's unlikely we'll be in a position to sign five or six new players. I suspect there will be at least three or four should we stay up though.

Win the next three and we're pretty much up. Simple eh?

Definitely an important factor that as it could be worth an extra point come the end of the season.

Yes that does worry me as well as mentally that could be difficult to overcome. Four points from our next two games gets us out of the bottom two regardless of what Sutton do though. And would leave them needing points from Crawley at home (third best away record) and MK away (second best home record).

Majority of the squad are under contract until the end of next season so don't expect too many to leave as I can't see clubs coming in for them which would leave us having to pay up their contracts, not something I can see us doing.

He did, the wrong decision in my opinion, but he also wasn't helped by a negative fanbase who helped push him out the door. Being hard to beat is so important at this level, once you've got that you can build and then start winning football matches more regularly. The season before we got promoted from League One we went unbeaten in 11 but only won four. I don't think we have average players, not at this level anyway, but they haven't performed to the levels that they should be. I think Hopper and Mingi are much improved under the Cowley's personally and other players are definitely more consistent than they were previously.

Playing Mingi as a third centre back seemed like a head spinning decision and he's been a revelation in that position.

I think the last two matches have shown how important belief is in football. Stockport and Wrexham believed they should win and we didn't. This team has had very little confidence and belief the last few seasons, apart from a couple of short spells, and I'm not sure how it gets built up again but it can be done.

Crawley aren't great at home, Grimsby aren't great anywhere and Notts County blow hot and cold, Doncaster might be on their holidays and Crewe more worried about their play-off games. Anything from Wrexham and Stockport, who have the best away record in the division, was always going to be a big ask but we now have five winnable games coming up and if we keep playing like we have been then we will secure enough points to still be in this division next season.

WE HAVE TO BELIEVE!!!

What's the alternative? Change the management team again? That's worked really well the last four seasons! Ultimately whether you rate the Cowley's or not they're our management team and we need to stick with them regardless. They're proven at this level, above and below and I very much doubt we could employ a manager or coach with a better CV right now. Remember they are 15 matches in with a squad that isn't their own and dealing with numerous injuries along the way. Yes it's only 15 points from and two wins but it's also only four defeats and two of them were against the best two teams in the division, according to the table. We are pretty close to being a competitive team in this division again, we just need to stay in it and next season we'll be at the right end of the table.
