This England team need to get back to basics. I’m sick and tired of this bazball bóllocks. |
 | Forum Reply | Where are we going to finish this season? at 10:41 2 Dec 2025
I voted 12-18th as the manager makes too many changes game to game. If he settled on a main starting XI, with the odd tweak here and there, we could even push for a playoff place as the league is crazy this season. |
 | Forum Thread | World Cup draw. at 10:22 26 Nov 2025
I see the World Cup draw is going to use the tennis seeding system for next year’s tournament. So England can’t meet Spain or Argentina until at least the semi final stage, and can’t meet France until the final. With Spain and Argentina being one & two in the rankings, they’ll be put into opposite sides of the draw. France & England being three & four in the rankings, they’re also into opposite sides of the draw. What odds on all four being in the semifinals? |

Hi Pat, I’m delighted for all the Irish Rs on here. I didn’t see the match as I was working, but I was keeping up with the score. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it was 2-3 to Ireland. I saw the video of the last couple of minutes from the RTE commentary. Fantastic scenes. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that they can join England in the World Cup. |

I was chatting to a manager at work about the upcoming budget this month. This manager is convinced that owners of electric cars are going to have to pay 2p per mile to drive their cars after the budget. |

Well said mate. I haven’t seen anything from the so called far right personalities in the media regarding wearing a poppy. I work on the Underground, and I was added to a whatsapp group which was for drivers who were members of my union. Every year without fail around this time of year, it was anti poppy diatribe. It got to the point that I had to leave the group a few years back. |

That’s the left for you in two lines. An absolute joke of a post by you. 😡 |
 | Forum Thread | Lack of consistency. at 23:07 5 Nov 2025
How is the team meant to play consistently, when we hardly ever have a consistent starting XI? Every team selection is straight out of the Ian Holloway tombola. The manager certainly doesn’t know his best starting lineup. IMO, he needs to pick a team, and try to stick to it for a few games with maybe 1 change max. As I said in a previous thread from Saturday, the spine of the team is constantly changed game by game. I’m losing patience with him. |
 | Forum Reply | BLAME the MANAGER at 00:35 3 Nov 2025
Most decent teams have a good spine, ie, 2 settled centre backs, 2 settled centre mids & a settled forward line of a main striker and a No10 type player. I’d dare say that the teams in the top 6 in the Championship have this. We definitely don’t have a good spine. We would do if the manager knew what his best team was, and stuck with it. As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, it’s a lottery for what players are playing in any match. If he needs to tinker with the side, make one change to the spine unless certain players are injured. At the moment, we’re seeing 3 or 4 changes to the spine of the team match by match, and there’s no cohesion. The same can be said of the non spine players. We see changes for changes sake. I think the manager needs to be bold. We can’t be consistent if we don’t name a consistent team. Making changes for changes sake is not doing us any favours. |

Are Coventry, Stoke, Millwall etc etc changing their starting eleven every week? I honestly don’t know, so it’d be nice to know. |

I got lucky in last years ballot as I managed to get 2 tickets for the men’s final. It was a great experience. |

You’re one of the posters on here I whose messages I like reading, daveB, but I’ll disagree with you to an extent here. Our side of the draw was very easy on paper compared to the other side of the draw for the knockout stages of the 2018 World Cup. Other side of the draw was as follows: France, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium & Japan. I wouldn’t have been confident playing any of those teams at that time. We had, Colombia, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Russia, Croatia & Denmark. Spain were not as good as they are now back then, so there wasn’t a team on that side of the draw I was scared of. In the 2020 Euro’s, we played one of the worst Germany teams I’ve seen in the last 16, a very poor Ukraine in the quarters and Denmark at Wembley in the semis. We avoided Italy, Spain and France who were in the other half. |

Southgate done well ditching a lot of the deadwood from the team, and then adding some good youngsters as replacements. The World Cup in 2018 was a breath of fresh air and it actually united the nation, and dare I say, made us fall in love with the national team again. Saying that, we were in one of the easiest groups imaginable, and our route couldn’t have been handled picked any better. Croatia in the semis proved a bridge too far though. The 2020 Euro’s (2021) we had another easy group, and another easy pathway to the final. We played a decent Italy in a home final, and scored after 2 minutes. We should’ve gone for their jugular at this point. We were playing against an ageing defence who were there for the taking. I’ve never forgiven Southgate for that. Ok, we reached the final of last year’s Euro’s in Germany. But we were bloody fortunate to get that far. We needed a 96th minute equaliser from Jude Bellingham to take Slovakia to extra time. Up until then, we were bloody dire the whole tournament. Southgate was a lucky manager in tournaments with the groups and subsequent routes to the final. Apart from the 2022 World Cup, where we met France in the quarters, we had very very kind routes to the latter stages. Southgate started something, and I’m grateful for that. We look as though we’re now bearing the fruit of that. |

 | Forum Thread | Feeling grim. at 10:01 25 Aug 2025
I was having a message chat with a work mate about our respective teams. He’s an AFC Wimbledon supporter, and he’s very proud of his team with the way it’s going this season. He said they’re a team who play 100% for each other, and they’ve been very competitive in all games this season. He loves the new ground, and is loving life as a fan. I wish them all the best, as their fans deserve it after what happened years ago to their team. After we finished the conversation, I felt so jealous of them. How bad is it that it’s come to thinking like that? |
 | Forum Thread | Embarrassed. at 17:40 23 Aug 2025
I know we’re all fans, but I really feel sorry for the diehards who follow this team away from home. This club doesn’t deserve their support. I’m getting grief from family and friends on social media taking the píss. I’m too embarrassed to reply to them. This feels much worse than the 7-1 battering from West Brom a few years back. |
