Big gaps between Cook and Dunne, the area which has been a strength for us lately. Maybe a game too far for Cook or his injury catching up with him. |

A few games ago a steward came up to frisk me at a turnstile into the East Paddock. I asked him what was going on and he said they’d been told to do this to everyone . I then pointed out to him that at the next block of turnstiles, all of fifteen foot away, nobody was being checked. He then called over the supervisor who couldn’t answer why I was being checked and nobody at the other turnstile and he just said if I didn’t comply I couldn’t get in. So after a half hearted pat down I went in. Since then no more frisking including yesterday. [Post edited 15 Feb 13:11]

Attitude lost us the game yesterday. You could see from the start that our players thought they just had to turn up and they’d win. When Blackburn scored I thought it would be the wake up call they needed to up their game and when we scored I thought we’d now go on and up our intensity and win. Instead we went back to ambling about again. It’s all very well getting up for games against Coventry and Leicester but our attitude and results against the bottom teams is appalling. |

Prem referees have got lazy because they have VAR to back them up. If there’s no VAR why not use EPL referees who are used to not having it? Just heard that because of that sh#itshow yesterday that the referee is likely to be “punished” by doing an EPL game next week where, of course, he will be without VAR again and likely to make the same cock up. You couldn’t make this stuff up. |

In the 70s I was working with an apprentice from Canvey Island who knew the Dr Feelgood band members and used to roadie for them. When they started to take off they asked him to work for them permanently but he turned them down. A while later he started coming in to work looking tired with red eyes and he said he’d started roadieing again. I said who for, and he said they were a new band you wouldn’t have heard of but come up to London with me at the weekend. That was how I saw the very beginnings of Madness. Eventually they asked him to roadie for them full time and this time he said yes. As an aside I bumped into him a few years later with an absolutely stunning girlfriend. Now, John himself would say he’s no oil painting but obviously one of the benefits of being with a big band. |

Yeah. Also saw Bowie as Ziggy Stardust at a small venue in Dunstable that’s now an Asda, can’t remember what it was called. |

Look at this list of bands that played at smallish venues. I was a regular at the Kursaal Southend around this time. Along with the bands on that list Roxy Music, Genesis, Family , Focus, SAHB etc. etc. How lucky we were no dynamic pricing, fortunes for tickets, buying a year in advance, just rock up on a Saturday evening after watching the Rangers best ever team. |

I was another of the kids who used to roll down the grass slope at the back of the SA road terrace. Regarding the tea bar I can remember a game where the crowd got pissed off with the ref and he was pelted with a barrage of tea cups. |

Yesterday it was our turn to use the fake GK injury to allow the coaching staff to pass on messages to the team. I have heard it proposed that as the GK cannot come off after treatment his team should lose another player for the 30 seconds, maybe the captain. Thoughts? |

I can understand this argument if we had a full squad. But seeing the team we put out, especially the bench I’d take a point however it comes. |

I presume Justin will be taking Freys place on the bench for the rest of the season. Yes, I know he’s not been in the squad for a while but there does seem to be fairly strong interest in him so that would probably account for that. So a 21 year old replacing a 31 year old who was looking increasingly past his best. Makes sense, good luck Justin. |
