And now you're gonna believe us, the U's are staying up!

Durham mentioned (and I agree) that the Notts Cou ty pitch looked immaculate. Reading their programme I see it is to be completely rebuilt this summer, with underpitch heating, new drainage etc. It's around 25 years since it was first installed.

Rather than best 2 teams, how about worst two away performances by us - Forest Green away and ?Crewe?

Replays for smaller clubs is what it's all about. You may struggle for a draw when playing at home against a higher club and a grand day out for your fans is a reward

Reds, left red faced by DC's blue and white army at Broadfield Stadium
at 22:20 13 Apr 2024

I missed rhe incident but believe he was adjudged to have elbowed McGuire which had been holding him when he was going for the ball.
Referee went from decent to a homer in the 2nd half.
I had promised Mrs Witham fish and chips in Brighton if we won, so just home from Harry Ramsdens !

This was a better watch than some games this season. After Chilvers penalty miss we were told he wasn't the first choice and I am sure McGeehan wasn't named as first choice either.
Stockport played rugby the way they held onto our players.

Whilst the other games had disappointing results this was a good Easter for us and we should be buoyed by it. Just a few weeks ago we would have viewed the thought of 4 points as a dream.

In answer to your question about the pitch, it was soft with about an 80% rebound bounce, and looked bare in places but it was at least level.

1mm of rainfall on a pitch of approximately this size is8100 litres of water. I'm not clever enough to calculate the size of pipe required to discharge that volume into a ditch at an acceptable rate but I am sure others will be.
However having done some locum work for a Town Council that had been "gifted" an underground suds chamber of the milk crate style and was having complaints about it, we soon realised that what it required was regular cleaning of the gullies, silt trap plus an annual washout of the discharge pipes. Often when longserving staff leave that's the sort of knowledge they take with them

We can blame the sticky pitch, we can blame the referee who missed several late challenges (and obvious fouls - you could hear the slap Akinde got to the face from 20 yards away) but in reality we had no outlet in the second half and invited them to attack. Either the linesman read the offside rule at halftime or Sutton knew how to beat it, but time and time again first half we got caught out.
And as at Harrogate too many (every?) corner went to their keeper.

Making a decision at 6.20 shows no respect for our fan base. I had a 60 minute wasted round trip especially as my local BBC Essex advised me at 6.30 that they would be reporting from the game tonight.

It was interesting to read in the Wimbledon programme the extent to which their success this season has increased the gate and helped reduce their debt (now £10 million).
I am sure Robbie would like to see his debt reduced and that's not going to happen the way things are at the moment. Unusually there has been no Chairman's report Iin the programme to reassure us that there is a January recruitment budget available.
