Saints And The The Big Freeze Of 1963
at 20:11:58

This is our site! I have just found the internet site and wow what a tremendous amount of information. I used to be able to quote teams from those early days but struggle to remember their names today. I can though picture them playing when reminded of their names. Wilkins going to Canada was announced over the loudspeakers and somehow I always remembered it Thanks for the advice.
It's a pity but my working career prevented me watching Saints and I regret I never saw Matt Le Tissier play but so pleased I saw Paine Chivers Channon and even Matthews and Best and so many other great players. I can remember Clough playing and I think he scored a dynamic hat trick including a powerful header that nearly broke the net. ah! such memories

Saints And The The Big Freeze Of 1963

I still can remember my first game it was against Southend in the third division South. I thought it was about 52/3. I don't think I saw much of the game because I had these big adults in front of me. My dad took me on the back of his BSA Bantam, we used to stop at the market end of six dials, King x Market?? and devour loads of grapes. Luxury in those days Twinkle toes Hoskins and Brian Flood, Christie in goal and the right back Left for Canada. Was his name Wilkins Tommy Traynor at left back.

Thanks for the book info, I will look out for it

I wanted to say it was my real hero Terry Paine but questioned my own memory. I was on the half way line and he scored in the goal to my left. I wish I had all these facts at my fingertips like you Weststand.

Underweststand You have awakened my memory. I can remember going to Notts forest to see that draw. Did someone score for us from near the halfway line for that equaliser? I have forgotten the home match but My dad and I travelled to London to watch that slaughter of Notts forest.
I was also at the semi-final, blowing on my little horn behind the goal where I saw one of my schoolboy heroes knee in that goal.
Both of these latter away games were an eye-opener to the size of grounds (spectators) that other team played on.
In 1964 I lost touch with Saints as I joined the Royal Navy and travelled the world, eventually moving to Dorset. In my retirement years I follow the games avidly, thank goodness for streaming and the odd cheap game and travel.

Saints V Newcastle United The Verdict
at 11:15:02

McCarhthy had a terrible lapse against Wet Spam but was magnificent against Newcastle. I'm hoping that Valery redeems himself and is the Man of the Match against Norwich.
Terrible result, lots of individual errors and goalless but a spirited performance and we surely must get a point from somewhere.

Saints At West Ham United The Verdict

Why does RH think that he has the brains to pick a team. A return to the wrong players playing in their wrong positions. Wrong subs at the wrong time, destroying the confidence of the players and the fans.

What is the reason that Valery never gets on the pitch? By the way, I fear that KWP is , like Cedric, too small to play an effective defensive role and he would not have coped with Antonio.

JWP has the talent and energy to play in most positions but his experience is as a midfielder and that is where he should play.

RH has to shoulder some of the blame for this defeat. Our central defenders and gK need to be protected by a much stronger midfield

Saints V Aston Villa The Verdict

What a goal by Shane Long. It was as if he was copying Ings own goal with his body movement, perhaps this type of goal will now have a special name like the Cruiff turn. Suggestions, please.

After several disastrous games at the beginning of the season, we generally thought that when Mousa regained fitness that all would be well in the saints camp. It hasn't, as yet, worked out like that but I truly hope he can be the star player in our winning team against AV this Saturday.

Saints At Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict

Boufal has been overshadowed by Son dive, Ings goal and JWPs injury. I thought that he played with plenty of enthusiasm and really got stuck in. I know he had a poor shot but his performance helped a very good Saints team. I do not think it was a good decision replacing him.

Galatasaray Want Lemina But Not At The Agreed Price
at 10:45:27

Bring him back, RH can give him his motivational speech and then we can let him lose. The guy has skill and is a strong player and would be a good alternative in midfield. I have no knowledge of him being disruptive and his injuries are not much different than other players.
Give him another chance to prove himself, but if he wants away then sell him quickly.

I don't suppose Danso was that keen to play 'out of position' once again' against an in form Son. RH did not have much choice tho, Danso or JWP, and I think JWP is better in the thick of it. Danso may never be good enough but it's early days so give him a chance. Give all our non achievers a chance you never know what they will be like in a year or even next match. A bit like the rubbish team we had a month or so ago who are now top ten material or better

Ralph Hails Stephens As A Leader
at 15:38:27

This is another pointless article that gives you the chance to knock Yoshida. You also fail to give your wholehearted praise to Stephens and his skill and leadership. You rant on about leadership but I don't think you would recognise a leader if you saw one. Perhaps you are not qualified to pontificate on this subject. Knocking on the sidelines is how you have become over the years Nick and it is very irritating
