Not so bad apparently... |

6 pages in and there seems to be no acknowledgement of the fact that we were told that there will be new rules from next season. Maybe the club have an insight to what that will be? Love to know just how much of a gamble Ronnie is. As per my previous post, I worry that is unnecessary and grossly disproportionate. Let's hope not, eh? |
 | Forum Reply | Second lowest budget in the Championship? ! at 07:37 16 Feb 2026
Existing thread - Budget? by davman 15 Feb 8:32So in the WLS piece from the manager after yesterday's sh1tshow, as well as the injuries, he also says that we have the second lowest budget in the league.
If that is the case how have we managed to spend so much on Kone, Poku, Burrell, Saito and most of all, Edwards?
If we really have the lowest budget, have spunked the Eze money on that lot, who haven't moved the performance dial and have not (with the possible exception of Burrell) increased in value, we are sooooo fckd long term again.
Let's talk Edwards, because someone has to say it. £4.5m in a position where it appears temporarily at least that we have JCS, Cook, Dunne and Edwards to slot in to two positions because there is no way our illustrious manager would contemplate going to a back 3. Until yesterday, Cook and Dunne were undroppable, neaning that there was no place in our starting xi for our £4.5m signing.
Imbalanced does not even start to describe it.
Then there is our recruitment strategy. Buy young and cheap, sell on is the model and that is the right one, but if you buy crocks, they will devalue rather than increase in value. And throwing in Development kids that have not been prepared by a L1 / L2 season or half season long loan will give you Bennie, Kolli, Morgan, Esquerdinha, etc. - like Sinclair Armstrong before them, mismanaged development because our squad needs them from the bench because we have no-one else.
I am psd off after yesterday and because I got heckled by a Chel** / Bromley fan this week and I can see Bromley, my local Pyramid Level 7/8 growing up overtaking us soon and I am utterly flabbergasted how poor we are as a club right now. |

Could also to be with the fact that earlier in the season he had some players on the bench that he could rely on unlike yesterday - Smyth, M'Bengue (who I am SURE Stephan is quite rightly cautious about). kids (who I wouldn't trust) and JCS - absolutely 'kin hilarious that they felt the need to put him on the bench. There was more likelihood of me getting on the pitch than him with Cook, Dunne, Edwards and M'Bengue as options. I am genuinely shocked about people's opinion of Kolli on here. Maybe one good game and a few good cameos turning round abject performances (eg: Sheff W (h)) - agree that there is something there, but he needs to be showing Bolton, Orient or Wycombe that before being a regular in our first team. We really are ballsing our development up - a path to the first team is one thing, but there is no shame in that path involving half a season or a full season loan getting REGULAR football somewhere else. The problem is we have a ridiculously light squad with most of them out long term, so the kids HAVE to stay and HAVE to play. Whatever way you dress it up, since Xmas our bench has been really telling. The ONLY person who thinks our kids are up to much is Nourry; Stephan doesn't appear to rate them... |

Agree with that, but we made it so easy for them. They always seemed to have time and space to pick a pass, they were"rashing" us giving us neither. They had some good players, but beat us by wanting it more. Their second goal assist Saito) gave them momentum and belief that they never looked back from. It drained us totally. If we had gone ahead, it would have been a different game. |

The trajectory says that we're gravitating into the bottom half yet again though... |

I absolutely get that, mate, but £4.5m??? If we can't afford it, we shouldn't be shelling it out in my view. We have FOUR CBs for two places (which would be FIVE if Morrison did not demand a move) ONE fit and able no. 9, ONE fit creative midfielder and TWO wingers, so prorities elsewhere. Maybe long term, you are right, there is logic, but binning this season off in January seems odd. By the way, Ronnie is an absolute Rolls-Royce, but whilst I could mortgage my house to get one, I realise that I can't really afford one, so don't have one. Just venting 'cos this season promised a lot, but is turning into the typical sh1t of recent times. [Post edited 15 Feb 12:01]

...because of course there is... Thanks NDM! |

The recruitment strategy is correct but fundamentally requires those players to be fit. |

He'll win 'cos the Cursed Club always loses. Not great behaviour from Crawley and I feel sorry for the lad, but £11m? Madness. |

He's a tidy player and a good defensive full back, but watch that first half back. Many opportunities to drive in to space like he did when he was central, but he rarely took them. That back 4 will keep the oppo out, but won't create much... |

Ronnie is no right back, is he? No clue how to drive forward into space from out wide and scared of crossing. Nice and tidy, but it's all too slow and lateral. Chalk and cheese from Saturday. Shame. Pretty dull here and packed on the staircases and aisles. Long trip home, so hoping for a big improvement... |
 | Forum Reply | charlton roll call.... at 19:32 4 Feb 2026
Seeing how every away game is a bundle and no-one cares what the tickets say "you're in my seat" blah blah blah... it won't matter if you are in a restricted view seat or not, everyone will be going where they please anyway. It might even work out that those spaces are most comfortable as they may well be sparsely populated. I genuinely hate packed away ends because the brain dead in our support base think three people can cram into one space, the stewards never enforce seating and those of us that respect the system and actually want sit where the tickets say are slagged off for wanting to do that... |

Just don't see it that way and really can't see how anyone could. Not a lot else wrong, but tgat was ridiculous in my eyes. |

Sorry, matey, but that is a load of bollox. It is either a pen or it is not. That was stonewall. "Looking for it" implies that he initiated contact. He did not do that. |
