What price an Essex Championship and T20 double?
at 17:29 17 Oct 2019

He will be missed but we have many upcoming guys who can fill the gap. Will miss Ravi's uncanny knack of taking wickets when really necessary but have been disappointed with his batting apart from the last month or so of the season when he showed what he could do. Was he putting himself in the market place? Really cant understand the move to Division 2 and Sussex though. Whilst Chelmsford isn't Lords, Hove is hardly palatial and I remember a few years ago as a dump. Can't think the acquisition of Ravi will suddenly create a resurrection of what was a really good county side few years back. Good luck to him although I doubt his intentions of getting back into the international scene via T20 is a bit of a dream and I would suggest highly unlikely

Super U's to overcome the Reds in vital league game on Saturday
at 17:00 12 Oct 2019

I was absolutely mortified to see us go in at halftime with a 1-0 lead as it was plainly obvious for all to see what the outcome would be....and well well, what a surprise.
Why on earth do we do it, why? Best place to defend a one nil lead is in "their" penalty box but can anyone tell me how many times we visited in the second half.
Mid table mediocrity McGreal has to be dispensed with soonest..

Are the Spurs U21's going to look for retribution for their "proper" teams' defeat or is the double on?

Super U's to see off the Boro at Fortress JobServe
at 17:50 5 Oct 2019

Sadly sums up our manager in that he can come up with a credible plan to frustrate Tottenham but when we play the team at the absolute bottom of the league we struggle as no attacking strategy in place. I know McG was a defender but surely he has learned by now that you "attack" at home and especially against the bottom club; hence we go 1-0 down and leave it frustatingly late to take all the points.
We are NOT going to succeed while he stays in position and maybe that is the grand master plan, perpetual Div.2; ..... well that basically ain't good enough.

Difficult to imagine anyone else getting one so has to be Eastman with another four!

Beating Tottenham doesn't look so special now after their home thumping this week! Perhaps we could give Bayern Munich a good thrashing let alone Boro?

Some cricketers heading for "burn- out" next season.
Hopefully most players of our "little club" will slip under the radar for this Mickey Mouse competition.

Can someone tell me if the T20 will actually run next season. As winners, it would be a kick in the teeth if it didn't. What next....disband the County Championship? Could we be the last winners of both?

The Hundred has basically lost the "County" identity and with it I suspect many of it's supporters. Who wants to watch a team made up of mercenaries from all over the World who are just there for the money, same as IPL, Big Bash etc etc. Will anyone bid for Sir Alastair with his phenomenal run rate?

Let's get back to the "local" teams to which we can identify and support.

You are totally correct LB, total and utter bollocks (there I said it!)
They need to understand that "proper" cricket is played over 4 or 5 days. We have enough short form of cricket and don't need anymore. 20/20 is basically a money spinner which enables counties to survive. As not every county is involved in the new competition will they still get a cut of revenue? Pity also that the teams will be heavily in favour of international players and not home grown talent. Plaudits should be to Essex for the number of home grown talent now forming the bulk of the team.
The Championship is being made a mockery by squeezing all games in April,May and September meaning you can actually win the championship if you get lucky / unlucky with the weather.
I for one wont be watching to 100's.

Great to hear that Sir Alastair will be playing again next season .....at least. Strange comments from Ravi though. Surely he is not looking to leave after being so involved in a team achieving a double for the first time. Maybe he is playing for time as his contract expired this season. Can't see him playing for any other county though so probably subject to "negotiations?"

Spurs Tuesday.
Macclesfield Saturday.
A worrying conundrum that may be beyond McG's comprehension.
Hopefully the guys can cope with it even if the manager is a bit bewildered.

Would love to see the umpire's pitch report.
Some of the balls bowled by the Somerset spinners in 1st innings were unplayable. The only saving grace in Essex second innings was they had to bowl with a new ball that didn't grip as well as a ball say 20/30 overs old after being worked over by the quickies.
