Bit of a random one. Was on my way to Euston yesterday to get the train up to Coventry. The fella next to me on the tube as I got on at Hammersmith was wearing a Bromley FC tracksuit. Turns out he’s their centre forward and was on his way to their team hotel by Hyde Park. Turns out he knows a few of our players like Chair, Kakay and Willock. He was at Arsenal with Eze. He lives in the Bush and we had a good chat about Zamora scoring that goal at Wembley. I saw he started on the bench today but came on near the end in 90 mins. I said to him ‘you’re gonna score at Wembley’. Lo and behold he scores one of the pens today. He was a really nice fella and it’s great they got their promotion today. Be nice to get them in the cup next season. |

Would be a very odd move to go to Sunderland. They don’t have a manager. It would mean leaving the greatest city in the lane for a very grim part of the country. I’d be amazed if Sunderland are anywhere near the mix for promotion next season. But if he goes we move on. No one is bigger than the club. |

It’s also my understanding that whatever you charge away fans you have to do the same to your home fans for the equivalent seat. So I assume behind the goal in the home end at the Ricoh is £37 a ticket. But just general costs for an array of things are going to be a lot more for a club in London than somewhere like Coventry up north. |

And now our captain is posting pictures tonight on his social media that he’s at the Chelsea game tonight in the home end. What’s the bloke thinking?? Sooner he’s gone the better. Cannot stand the bloke. |
| Forum Thread | Conceding first at home…again! at 07:57 7 Apr 2024
Looking at our record at home this season which has been abysmal we seem to concede first nearly every time. Looking at bottom half of the Championship we have conceded first against: 1. Sunderland 2. Swansea 3. Watford 4. Blackburn 5. Huddersfield 6. Birmingham 7. Sheff Wed 8. Rotherham We start games at home so slowly. It’s like pedestrian like. The game only game I can think of where played on the front foot was against Stoke and we scored early on. Other than that we are so slow passing it sideways. Our top scorer is Chair on 5 goals. Next is our left back with 4 goals. Armstrong simply cannot start games. He cannot lead a line. He is an impact sub. The likes of Willock and Chair I think their best days are sadly behind them. Dykes is not good enough at this level. And from what I have seen of Frey he is not the answer either. I hope we stay up but my word next season we are going to need 4 or 5 quality players in the attacking area of the pitch. Our home form has to improve. We as fans are doing our bit. |

I heard this yesterday down at Swansea from someone. At first I thought it was an April Fool’s joke. But apparently it’s to do with FFP to ensure we stay ok for this season. I can’t imagine we pay the person too much to do it on match days. My kids will be gutted. They love Jude! We all know St Jude is the patron saint of lost causes as well. |

He can’t play in Marti’s system. He’s so immobile. He has the arse the size of a house! Hate having a keeper as captain. Most games when we concede he’s at fault for one of the goals. And he’s Chelsea. |

Completely. Today was on the manager. Not always convinced when Field and Colback both start. The subs were all pre-planned. We have to leave Chair on because he always attracts a number of players to him. But today was all about getting the first goal and that killed us. Didn’t think they were good at all. Begovic is just not good enough at this level. He’s so sluggish. More pressure on us now at Sunderland. Really frustrating afternoon. |

My big concern is someone like Brighton will nab him from us. This guy knows what he’s doing. Sticks to his principles. From the Pep school of football. |

Yes it was good to see things building up outside the ground yesterday. We have a lot of fans who don’t live near the Bush. So I am sure over the next few days when people can get to the ground then things will start to build up even more. There’s a few shirts, scarves and flowers. I am sure the club will have something planned for the West Brom game. |

I think we might see Dunne playing in the away games when the home side put us more under the cosh. And then for home games we might see Cannon more when we have to be on the front foot. But I thought Cook and JCS were very good again yesterday. |

It’s an interesting debate because Pep often plays with 4 centre backs. Only full back who plays for them regularly is Walker. Otherwise the other 3 are always centre backs with the likes of Stones pushing into midfield on the attack. You can see Martí’s background is from the Barcelona way of playing. |

Really hoped when Marti came that Begovic would have the captaincy taken away from him. For the way we want to play he is not good enough. Cook is clearly a natural leader. Shame he was out for so long but one of the very few players who can hold his head up high. |

I despair with the persistence of Paal and Chair taking our corners. So many times it literally goes waist high to the near post and is cleared away by the opposition. Someone else has to take the corners. Can only remember JCS scoring at Huddersfield this season from a corner. Another game where the game was over after about 20 mins. |
