A big thank you to Keith and all his team. This site is a great example of how a football forum should be operated. Well done to all concerned. Your hard work is very much appreciated 👏 👏 👏
I make bo appologies for repeating this but I've said it on here a number of times in the past and reiterated it to Leighton a number of times also. In Spain I got to know an old gent from Burnley who was very knowledgeable about football. He loved Leighton. He went on to say that there are a generation of men in the Burnley area who have Leighton James as their middle names. What a great legacy. Being brutally honest with you Leighton- RIP
Martyn Margotson is a great asset to our coaching staff. in recent years some our best loan signings have been in the goalkeeping position. We are probably bracing ourselves for Rushworth not returning next season. If this is the case a cheeky bit for Freddie Woodman could be a good option. Woodman and Margotson have a great working relationship. Woodman has stagnated a bit as of late. A move back to us and working again with Margotson would kick start his career.
Excellent team performance. Players showed grit and determination to get us over the line. Well taken penalty seemed to ease the tension surrounding the players. Well done lads.
Yes agree. Good points made. By vocal I don't mean openly criticising a player. Some players respond to this most don't. By vocal I mean in a number of ways words of encouragement being just one. Back on track though - I believe Matt Grimes is an excellent captain, a very consistent player and a key member of our team.
I'm finding all this criticism about Grimes baffling to say the least. Yes our problem primarily is the midfield and he and Fulton don't complement each other. Midfield was far better balanced when Joe played alongside him. My only criticism of Grimes is that he is not vocal enough for my liking particularly when we concede. He counteracts this by leading by example with his effort and commitment to the team. Easy to say bench him but who would replace him?. First name on the team sheet for me.
Looking at season ticket sales for next year sales look significantly down, which is a worry. However it should provide an opportunity with shrewd marketing to introduce a huge new generation of young support - the lifeblood of any club .
Absolutely. A credit to his family, Welsh football and our club. If he can avoid too many injuries he should still have 4 years left in him at the top level. Then bring him home!!
Too many players uncertain about their futures and looking beyond to next season. The backbone of our team have an uncertain future 4 loan players not in the reckoning for whatever reason. Not a healthy position for a manager to have to put up with I understand the managers frustration yesterday. I shared his sentiments.
50 crosses today, many not beating the first man - only 6 successful. There was a similar statistic in a match at home recently ( think it was the one before Cardiff). There is something wrong with our tactics judging by these stats.
My grand mother lived in William Street ( next to the club shop) On a match day she would let quite a few through her house and garden and up on to the East terrace. Back to the fixtures incredible that we played away at QPR on the Good Friday then up to Bury to play the next day. Bearing in mind there were no motorways. Back home for a home match on the Monday. Made me laugh at the commentators today talking about squad rotation and fixture congestion over the holiday period. No subs in those days either. Incredible.
Sad news. Phil Dowd was one of the best refs on the circuit. He struggled a bit on the fitness tests apparently. Sometimes think what would have happened in the play off final with a different ref. Two good penalty decisions. Good news he refereed us that day..
