at 08:50 10 Jun 2024

Worse than Ian Andrews, Kelvin Davis or Tommy Forecast?

Really?

Brighton appear to be about to appoint a 31 year-old manager.

If Lallana was that much of a wise presence around the place, why didn’t they put him on the coaching team?

We surely can’t be looking at him as being in the team.

I think Monsieur 130 may need to change his username.

Adam Blackmore said on Twitter this week that the truth about Fonte’s departure is far removed from what many say.

You may have heard his interview with Fonte this week. He still seems to retain a lot of affection for the club.

TBH I don’t think Ted Bates would have been much less complicit.

I remember seeing an interview with Merrington a couple of years ago, who was aware of what was going on, but was leant on from up above not to pursue it.

Bates was a name I am sure he mentioned as part of those discussions.

A promoted club is simply not going to be signing England international players in their peak years.

It will be a mix of the following:-

- Championship players
- Players from overseas Leagues
- One or two experienced Prem players who are past their best

The key is to get the right blend and to still retain the team ethic we had in the Championship.

I really don’t see us signing that many players. Five or six tops.

Fair play to Palace for building a side with a core of young English players.

They won’t necessarily get savaged by the bigger clubs.

These clubs can only have 25 in a squad and they already have loads of players.

They are a role model for us to aspire to.

Maguire wasn’t dropped.

He is injured.

Defence worries me. Yet again.

Against the better sides we may have a problem.

Apologies to MytchettSaint, who I now see did include David Lee…..

I am going to take the dubious honour of being the first player to say Paul Moody.

To think Branfoot dropped MLT and put him in the team instead.

Other players who I remember being particularly bad who I don’t think have had a mention….. (apologies if I missed them being mentioned….)

Calum Davenport
Sergei Gotsmanov
David Lee
Gregory Vignal
Ryan Smith
Vincent Pericard
Scott Marshall
Matt Paterson
Leon Best (for Derby away alone)

I didn’t think we were officially a Prem club until their AGM.

Which I thought was later in the month (?)…

It’s a shame Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United went down, as all three are decent away days.

I really liked Bramall Lane when I went there for the Djenepo being prime Messi game.

I thought their fans were loud TBF.

It would appear I have been to 56 of the current 92.

As I suspect many others also have, have also been to two old grounds for Brighton and various other old grounds.

Top 5 grounds I am excited about going to next season
at 13:45 5 Jun 2024

1. Boscombe - If he's playing for us, Fraser would get a battering from their lot. I would love him to score an injury-time winner and then really milk it in front of their fans.

2. Brentford - not done their new ground

3. Palace - always enjoyed going there; I love the earthy feel of the place.

4. Ipswich - best atmosphere of last season outside the play-off games, I thought. We owe them a stuffing or two.

5. Chelsea - I like the safe standing there; decent atmosphere in the away end. Drank in Fulham when we last played there, which I would recommend.

Forest also gets a notable mention; not been there in many a year.

Fulham is OK as well. Although I don't get as excited about going there as many others seem to.
