Chelsea 6-1 Rams - Match report
Chelsea 6-1 Rams - Match report

It's Just Like Watching Barnsley, well it was for twenty minutes before the Rams conceded and Chelsea ran out 6-1 victors.

Never mind the nightmare journey down the East Coast line with train after train cancelled, forget the £48 per ticket, ignore the £6 "Pie & Pint" offer, being able to visit Stamford Bridge and take the pee for twenty minutes priceless.

From the opening minutes when Chelsea hit the post the travelling support are magnificent. Rounds of "You're Not Very Good" ring from the Derby corner. A shot flashed across the goal wide and it's "Can We Play you Every Week?". A rare Rams attack, Miller wider than Oxford Bags and we sing "It's Just Like Watching Barnsley", rather than Brazil which the Tykes sang on their brief association with the Premiership, these things come full circle.

Of course it all had to end. The start of the decline came with the removal of Stubbs with a calf injury, Leacock his replacement saw ten minutes of action before conceding a penalty as Lampard went down softy in the area.

Frankie stepped up and with ease put the blues into the lead. In the crowd we needed the Bennies.

Kalou, who has arms like an octopus as Edworthy's face found out, made it two with a farce of a clearance from Carroll and only the break for half time slowed the progression.

Two nil down, 4-5-1, we go for it, the ineffectual Ghaly is replaced by Earnshaw who give him his credit puts so much effort into his first thirty seconds on the park you have to check the programme to make sure it is Earnie.

Chelsea score, Lampard's second a tap in from two yards, white shirts everywhere except next to Frankie.

Lewis comes off and Jones enters the fray and The Blues score again this time through Cole. "Four Nil And You Still Don't Sing" our response.

Time for two more Lampard goals.

Time to bring on substitutes Drogba and Shevchenko, either of which cost more than our entire team.

Time for Jones to slot the ball time.

Time to sing "We're Going To Beat you Seven Six"

Time to watch the Blues fans drift away.

And on the long journey home time to reflect. The players aren't up to the job, it's not their fault. The managers Davies and Jewell I don't blame them particularly. The current owners - time will tell, and even the old board who said we are not just here for the ride then invested less than a third of the money the club took in I don't hold responsible.

We are the worst ever football club in the Premiership.

We have the best ever fans.

And that to me is enough.
