As a bit of light relief Mummy, do all fairy stories begin "Once upon a time"? No son, many begin with "If elected, I promise ...." |

It might have been appropriate but was, in fact, a typing error. Sophy Ridge had a better one live on Sky, talking about Hunt. She used the wrong leading consonant. |

I suspect they'll spend most of the year just playing for DS. One may come on in leaps and bounds and push for a 1st team place. Lower league loans are more likely for Hawkins, Murphy or Lloyd. |

I thought it was awful. JE allowed both to talk over each other. The big takeaway was SunK's repeated claim of £2000 extra tax. That has now been seen to be a lie. However, claims like that can stick. Overall I thought Sunak was rude and aggressive, but Starmer was short on detail. Political equivalent of a tedious 0-0 draw. |

Based on all the polling over the last 2 years, Labour's share of the vote looks set to be 40-47%, which would be huge. Especially compared to Tories running at 18-25%. There is so much work to do for any new Govt and v little money to do it with. Labour's caution is understandable. Perhaps the Leader debates may show us a vision for the future but you wouldn't want to bet on it. |
| Forum Reply | Eze for England! at 10:28 4 Jun 2024
I thought Eze was excellent first half. His ability to glide past defenders offers something different. May be between Ebs and Grealish. They'll only take 3 keepers. LB is a problem when Shaw isn't fit. He isn't. 7 to miss out Trafford, Guehi, Braithwaite, Maddison, Gordon, Grealish, Toney. |

Played cricket from 9-52 and still enjoy watching. Played Rugby Union at school up to 15, when I realised I was far too small and not quick enough. Still enjoy 6 nations and went to RWC. Love to follow the Tor de France, highlights mainly. |

V pleased for Eze, whether it benefits us or not. I hope it does, I hope he makes a good impression and goes on to Euros squad. |

I see some of the predictions re number of seats, but I don't believe that Labour will get a landslide. Almost inevitably, the incumbents pick up votes during the campaign, although Tories seem to be trying to p1ss off, all but the elderly. I suspect Lab will end up with around 400 seats, Tories 150, LD 20+. I hope Ref UK get zero. |

Last few days, Keiran Petrie and Lorent Talla have signed new contracts. I believe Dev Squad should have plenty of attacking options for 24/25. Might need an extra RB. |
| Forum Reply | Dykes injured? at 11:21 2 Jun 2024
I suspect, without the necessary information, that this is a serious injury that will keep him out of the game for many months. Whatever we think of his contribution, I'd hate to see us go into next season with a strike force of Frey, Armstrong, Kolli and Kelman. And some muppet on FLW is suggesting Kolli gets sent on loan. Along with Talla and Bala, the latter being released last week. |

Turning agency workers into full time. Simple. No, it isn't. You can't compel people to take on jobs. I used to work freelance and, when I did, I would never have joined a company full time. I preferred being my own boss, even though answerable to the client. Agency staff can choose when they work and may have control over acceptable rates. Employed staff have to toe the line on shift patterns and salaries. A better balance between perm and agency staff would be ideal, especially in public sector. Buy it ain't going to happen when there are massive vacancies in health care. |

It may be perception, but Club seem to be more ruthless in cutting prospects that prob won't make it. No more Charlie Owens nor Travelman? |

What I've seen in Dev Squad highlights is that he's quick, with a decent shot. But v small. Maybe it's the latter that counts. Also, he may have somewhere lined up, hence announced much later than earlier departures. |

For any business trading in multiple jurisdictions, it is perfectly legitimate to take your profits in the most favourable one. It may be they are doing inter group trading. If country A charges country B £1000, but country B sells for £1300, then liability is £300. What's to stop country A selling for £1250? How, then, do you assess what the profit should be and the tax liability? Amazon & Google both have huge European base in Ireland (country A?). I believe EU were planning changes to harmonise tax rates across the bloc, but, of course, UK would no longer be part of that proposal. |

I believe both Bennie and Morgan are 18 already, so some of the restrictions won't apply. Bennie played 25 of 27 Perth Glory games so should be used to men's football. Not sure about the standard, though. Nat League equivalent? |

Maybe there is a correlation between the numbers not working and the huge waiting lists in NHS. I appreciate that Covid made a lot of people 50+ think they'd had enough of working, so that's 2 factors. Add in zero hours and/or min wage contracts it's not hard to see the attraction. I doubt if DWP has the resources to identify many of those who could work but choose not to and claim benefits. In many cases the benefits barely cover subsistence living. |
