Yes he made some bad errors in games last season but he also made some vital saves. The one against the excellent Millar in the Preston game comes to mind which proved pivotal.
The only problem is that he is the highest earner at the club by some distance and would the money be better spent getting Hayden in and possibly another. Do we spend that kind of money on someone who will be 37 when the new season starts or use the money wisely to get other players in and perhaps offer Chair a better contract?
It feels like we are trying to retain players like Koli etc and these new kids that Marti genuinely thinks can knock on the door of the 1st team within 2 seasons. Anyone that can't seems to be being released. I suspect they want to have a core of 6-8 really good prospects beyond the first squad and play players that are in the squad but not necessarily week in week out alongside them in the development squad so that the development squad genuinely is a feeding ground and fitness ground for the first team squad. Or is that logic far too sensible? Or not...
Absolutely. He did unbelievably well to keep us up and turn things around but he has yet to prove that he can take a team into the next stages of climbing the table. I think we all know he can but until he's physically proven it I feel confident that he'll stay and hopefully actually take us up the table next season. If he does then from that point who knows?
McKenna should stay at Ipswich rather than be seduced by the madness of Chelsea and carry on his good work in the Prem. If he goes to Chelsea I think he'd be out of his depth in months with the sh*t that goes on there.
Possibly but it depends how successful he is with us next season, and how much he wants to be part of a longterm build. It also depends on what he is actually given to create his team here.
