| Kone first touch 18:00 - Feb 23 with 563 views | T_Block | Is it me or does Kone always flick the ball into the air with his first touch? Does this give defenders time to tackle/close him down.He is better with a he ball on the ground. Any thoughts as it has begun to irritate my son? [Post edited 23 Feb 18:40]

That said when he’s got it he can often lay off some nice intuitive touches. He’s been a bit slow on pace but to be fair he looks like he’s in need of a rest at some point (if the backroom boys could help out and get another striker fit please!). Big positive is he’s getting the odd goal in his first season and has a way to go. Think he’ll get better.

There have been many rational explanations and balanced thinking on the matter, and some not. For me, his age is irrelevant. Plenty of kids have better instant control than RK. The questions are: Do we have the ability to improve him? And does he have the ability to improve? However, we know this much: He knows where the goal is. He can be a right handful, bordering a mare for opposing CHs. We need to play to his strengths. He ideally needs a foil alongside. He also could do with a break. I mentioned yesterday, for a club whose only decent striker purchase in 20 years, was Austin in 2013, signing him and Buzz in the same window is akin to winning the lottery. He/we need a very good pre-season and he could well be massive as a result. I could see him ar Selhurst Park if for no other reason than the headline: From Homeless to Palace Infuriates at times, but I do like him.
