Yes, until the moment Bragg got himself into trouble, we were all thinking : how many are we going to win by? But, Pompey's forwards really are p!ss poor. They were as big a let-down as their fans. [Post edited 11 Oct 15:56]

Wherever he receives the ball, Bragg immediately turns round to face his own goal. The analysts of other teams all know that, and Pompey players were waiting for him to do it. I shouted "forward, not back!" at him. as I could see what was going to happen, but I was far away - not that he'd have listened to me anyway - and the Pompey player took the ball. Then Bragg made things worse by grabbing his shirt. I think it would have ended up a comfortable 4-0 otherwise. But, credit to the 10 players for digging in. Celebrating at the end was so good that I really didn't want to leave. The last 2 minutes of the first half, after the red card, the atmosphere was a bit deflated, but apart from that, I could really only hear our fans. The love-in the Pompey players and fans had in their corner at the end was the only time I noticed them, but I still couldn't hear them.. [Post edited 11 Oct 15:57]

Robbie Savage is a very good manager. I've watched his progress with Macclesfield and Forest Green Rovers. He has a 62% win rate after more than 120 games. Leicester fans must be wishing they had him instead of Russell Martin. [Post edited 10 Oct 17:07]

The worst manager and the worst goalkeeper Leicester fans have ever seen. "McCarthy is truly ****ing hilarious 😂😂😂 They hadn’t scored a first half goal until today " |

All we need now is to have the right goalkeeper and striker starting on Sunday. Is Ramsdale training with the first team now? [Post edited 7 Oct 23:11]

The independent tribunal, unlike the EFL, treated this without prejudice as a legal case and there was only one relevant legal precedent: Leeds and Bielsa. Legal precedents normally determine the outcomes of subsequent cases. How that so-called independent EFL panel with its Boro connections got away with replacing Saints with Boro in the play-off final, Gibbo only knows. Presumably, if we'd had the same legal team then, they wouldn't have got away with it. The time for appeal would have extended past the play-off final and the panel members with obvious Boro connections, like David Winnie, would have been replaced before he could propose replacing Saints with Boro in the final.. We had Bazunu to thank for not losing at home last season. The outfield players were a disorganised, unmotivated mess that Will Still had created. The fans were feeling disillusioned too. [Post edited 5 Oct 11:29]

Away. 1966 in the Fratton End with Dougal's mob when we won 5-2. 1972 Beating them 7-0 in a fitting testimonial for their goalkeeper, John Milkins. Nick's match report is here for those of you who weren't fortunate enough to be there that day: https://tui.fansnetwork.co.uk/ Home. 1996. The 3-0 FA Cup win was so easy and so humiliating for Pompey's little group of fans in their away section at the end of the East Stand, who were mainly middle class season ticket holders. The Pompey players, especially the ones who had to play on the wing, looked terrified that day and just wanted to get out of there. Probably the most dominant home atmosphere I've seen in a south coast derby. A repeat of that on Sunday would be good. [Post edited 5 Oct 11:03]

If they'd asked for David Winnie to be replaced on the disciplinary panel by someone with no Middlesbrough affiliation, I doubt we'd have been thrown out of the play-off final and we certainly wouldn't be talking about the possibility of a long ban for Tonda now. It all blew up because that partiality was allowed to continue unchallenged. Saints' legal team, naively, also agreed to let the decision be rushed through inside the normal time limit permitted, which was done, of course, purely to get Middlesbrough into the play-off final. Harsh punishments are very popular with fans of other clubs nowadays, if not the recipient. So, the disciplinary panel members will pander to popular taste and dish out the harshest penalties they can, regardless of the merits of the case. Logically, of course, the only relevant precedent in Tonda's case, is Bielsa, as the FA rule on bringing the game into disrepute was exactly the same then. Bielsa received no punishment whatsoever and was even awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award at the end of that season. The EFL rule has already been dealt with by the EFL so that should no longer be a consideration. If these cases were determined in true legal fashion, the legal precedent would be the most important consideration. But, quite honestly, these disciplinary panels from Sport Resolutions seem to do whatever they feel like doing and are heavily influenced by the media and popular opinion. |

It's all about money. These disciplinary panel members from Sport Resolutions are all in it for the money too. They're not doing it for their love of fair play. Having a disciplinary panel provided by Sport Resolutions making a decision for the EFL followed by a panel from Sport Resolutions making a decision on the same case for the FA clearly raises questions about independence and impartiality. These jobs Sport Resolutions provide them with are very well paid so they don't want to upset the apple cart by appearing to differ in any way on the severity of punishment to be meted out. Reports vary but it could cost the country anything between £7billion and £30 billion. The easiest way for the UAE to get what they want would be to investigate the provider of all the so-called "impartial" panel members for the FA and EFL, Sport Resolutions, and get their verdicts declared null and void. In our case, the ex-Middlesbrough player, David Winnie would have proposed replacing Saints with Boro in the playoff final and Lydia Banerjee, who'd advised Middlesbrough in the past, would have gone along with it, as he was the man with the football knowledge. The panel Sport Resolutions provided for the FA would then feel obliged to provide an equally draconian punishment. How Sport Resolutions and Middlesbrough managed to get away with it, Gibbo only knows. The "impartiality" of the people making these decisions needs to be thoroughly examined and, hopefully, Man City's legal team will do that, but it will be too late to help us.
