Potential update on Illias Chair...
at 23:29 19 Jun 2024

To quote the morally corrupt Cambridge Analytica, " It doesn't need to be true, it just needs to be believed..."
next up will be the 'of previously good character' references - come on, we've all been there...

Joey Barton

I make you right. He could have easily remained managing in League 1 for a long time - plenty of teams would have taken him and been happy to plod along with his 'I've played for Citeh and got an England cap' rhetoric.
His divisive opinions for clicks and particularly doubling down on women's football has effectively made him unemployable in football again.
I'm no fan of Barton, but its difficult to see where he goes from here after not only closing the door on his football career but also embarrassing himself and apologising for his social media outbursts - even his fan boys seems to be turning on him.

I know Kirk and Stan quite well... also klnow Chris the drummer, who was the original drummer in The Thompson Twins.
Really nice fellas - but I've never got on with them musically to be honest... Or Theatre of Hate...

Definitely not denying that the UK housing demand is a thing - I think it presents itself more in the lack of affordable housing though, rather than the creation of luxury flats for private rental.
I think my comment of kids abuse was more aimed at another post/poster, apologies...

I could write a 2m word essay on the demise of local pubs, as it is my business and has been for a very long time. mainly a combination of most factors but the key catalyst for me was supermarkets price incentivising consumers to do their weekly shop was a defining point. take away the ability to sell alcohol in supermarkets and there would be a seismic change IMHO. Taxation plays a massive role, and the legislation that restricted breweries having large amounts of licensed houses played a major factor - most chains have not gone from being brewers to property developers and companies.. But ultimately, there is no denying that capitalism plays the biggest part. Far more money in selling the land that pubs sit on rather than having a pub that serves the community. Supermarkets exercising their ability to make large profits has the knock on effect at the expense of hospitality. That's aggressive capitalism IMO.
Also, the idea that kids being abused is exclusive to immigrant and Asian grooming gangs is ridiculous. It's been going on for many decades -again, a fact I know about first hand. 89% of child sex abuse prosecuted cases in the UK are white men.

I worked for a band called Buddy Curtess and The Grasshoppers who played on the hallowed turf as part of the 'We change the world' event - around 1987/88?

Leicester’s Maresca to Chelsea

It felt like the only thing that actually saved Maresca's job was the poor period of form that Leeds and Ipswich suffered. Their fans were calling for his head at that point....

Marti Contract??
at 17:11 22 May 2024

I think if we have learned anything over the past few appointments, it should be that we need to create a system and fit the manager in to retain the style and policy - This way it means losing a manager will have no immediate impact on the team. Obviously there will be close relationships etc, but we need to create a sustainable model.
Marti managed to get a fantastic reaction from a set of players that were versed in a different system that most of us had written off as a lost cause. If we had a system and style in place, the challenge would then be having a succession manager prepared that is aware of the expectations.

Pochettino leaves
at 21:58 21 May 2024

Please let it be him. totally over rated manager with no technical ability, no idea how to change games and completely out of his depth. he's won 3 of their last 15 games. Extremely high opinion of himself.
Perfect fit.

Am I the only person that thinks de Zerbi is over rated?
He inherited a successful system from Brighton/Potter/legacy and hasn't exactly uprooted trees - he also comes across as an ungracious bit of a prick...
Really surprised that he's being linked with all these other 'big' jobs....

I doubt very much whether Postecoglu or Howe played any part in that decision making process. Not defending their stance, but its greedy club owners and 'brand marketeers' that involve themselves heavily in that type of 'global recognition'
If I was them I'd take the development squad, or all the players that are about to be dropped or out of contract...

I think we should take a small section in Stuarts on the Uxbridge Rd.
The kits would fit well whilst browsing suitable brogues, Farah slacks and mid century modernist attire.
