| Forum Reply | P.L.was asked to investigate ‘tapping up’ claim over Russell Martin at 17:16 2 Jun 2024
Swansea went to Notts County to get Williams and asked permission. Notts County gave permission and offered Williams a deal which he accepted. Williams had a contract with Notts County and Swansea paid the get out clause for him. Southampton wanted Martin and seemingly agreed to employ him before the end of the season. Possibly Martin told them to delay as to do the deal after the end of the season would be cheaper for Southampton. SFC then paid up MARTIN s contract with Swansea for the reduced amount after they delayed the signature a week or two. If Martin was not involved he might be angry SFC did not pay the full amount as it is him being taken to court not Southampton. If is nothing to do with Southampton in that sense. They have paid only part of Martins bill according to Swansea. If Swansea win SFC will no doubt offer to pick up the tab. If SFC were mid table they would not perhaps. It could be a matter of verbal agreements. Did Southampton agree a deal verbally or with an email to pay Martins release clause before the season ended? If they did then they must pay. Who is responsible is always an issue for clubs. Conventionally the manager is responsible for signings except when you manage Chelsea. Allen was head of the academy at the time and it was he that stated the local player were not up to scratch. These players were brought in on "his watch". The list of superstars " not rated " in Swansea is a growing list. Cullen is rated but declines easy headers. |

Some doubt as to if he is eligible. Born in England schooled in England. Earnie was half Zambian to an English father and Zambian mother but was schooled in Wales. Does this carry over .? |

Reading the Jack Army page fans do not understand that the compensation is due from the manager not the buying club. It is my understanding that conventionally the buying club volunteers to cover the costs. It is the manger that wants to escape from HIS contract. In this case Southampton have only volunteered to pay a proportion of the agreement after perhaps Martin showed them his contract. |

Personally I have not watched a complete one of these for quite some time. This year with no British interest I am even less likely to pop down the boozer to watch it. 2018 was the last with Bale scoring two v Liverpool. I watched Real v Athletico with Bale in his prime. |

Swansea have always projected the "boot room culture" as a bonus with the kit man and cook doing the team talk for example. Reading between the lines has the boot room started to have a negative effect.? Gude was brought in as a business 'corporate culture' expert. What is the point of that if the "culture " was sound. Around Christmas 18 months ago the culture was presumably not good with three players sulking and the manager upset at having no new troops. Everything needs freshening up. I still cannot understand how a US player can come in on loan want to sign for Swansea score 17 goals in 2-3 months and no one say a good word about the fellow. |

"Kretinsky's 1890s Holdings group has a 27% stake in the English Premier League soccer club West Ham, according to the club's website, in addition to his ownership of the leading Czech team, Sparta Prague". UK wealth has been based of n selling assets and reinvesting. Shareholders have not made much money out of this privatisation compared with British gas for example. UK shareholders can take their money an invest in something more profitable. |

I walked all those lines in my time on the railways. There is a very nice scenic single line from Tondu to Port Talbot. Swansea has the Central Wales line and the scenic line to Carmarthen. |

Getting the country back was supposed to be Brexit but it did the reverse. East Europeans who would be effectively Brits in one generation were replaced by Asians from India Bangladesh and Pakistan. Supporting the Commonwealth remember.? |

Looking forward to Dubois v Hrgovic. I think the big Croatian will edge it. Only he and Jerome Anderson are unbeaten HW prospects. Both about 17 and a half stone or 245 and 247 US pounds. Hrgovic a has seen off Parker and big bang Ziang. |

Marc Allen when he took over the academy stated the local kids were not good enough and brought in a group of rejects from Premier league teams. He got a lot of stick for that. Three years on now. Players like Veevers, Lissah, Abdullai, Kyrrel Wilson Tyrell Whittaker a CB called Roberts and one or two others like Zane Myers. Given that Kyrell Wilson, Lissah and Abdullai are all in the first team squad and Congreve Cotterill Lloyd and Thomas are not suggests he might have had the right strategy. The club tend to bring in people t run the academy then promote them out like Clottet and Allen. |

Cullen, Ollie Cooper, Congreve, Cotterill, Ben Lloyd, Josh Thomas. Joe Thomas and Kai Ludvigsen released. Govea and Sam Parker fast tracked past them. Lissah and Abdullai brought in by Marc Allen look the part. These local guys have been on the books from early teens and some lack the basis. Are just kept on just to populate the u21 team. All under contract and none, as far as i can see, improving ins such a way that it is noticeable. Cullen has been kept on for another year as has Josh Thomas. Only Parker has excited the fans and he is hesitating on a new deal it seems. I was just reading about Eborezie Eze. At 24 he has really kicked on after being moved around clubs. Has the academy lost its way.? [Post edited 1 Jun 17:42]

I blatant under use of Cyril and overuse of Wyndham and Anthony O'Connell who are committed to dumbing down. If sheffield Utd commentators can identify Kai Ludvigsen then O'Connell should be able to name check Jordan Rhodes or Lee Nicholls. Respect the opposition. |

I like to think the new improved recruitment and scouting system is not focussing on players who would laugh at the prospect of signing for Swansea permanently. Even modest talents like Ashby and Bashir Humphreys see themselves well above Swansea level. I do not like this type of thinking. Too good for Swansea but not good enough to actually play Championship football. What is the use of that? Overpriced and undercooked. At least Gilchrist has 11 Premier league games under his belt. If Swansea are willing to blood loans and see them struggle why not Nathan NTAO. |

Of course he knows them. He knows them all. He gets 20 tickets does he give them to football people or ordinary workers.? One is networking one is a gift for staff that treated him well. Neither is charity. |
| Forum Reply | Swansea staffers supporting Russ. Is this healthy? at 12:19 1 Jun 2024
It is called " Networking" notionally hospitality from brand Martin via Southampton football club. As Coleman would tell you " there is no free lunch". If it was his driver or the cleaners it would be honourable and good. A gesture of kindness and well recieved. I would not see this as charity at all simply a gift for " going the extra mile" where previously unrewarded. [Post edited 1 Jun 12:29]
