Bristol City started life under Gary Johnson with an impressive 3-2 win on their travels to Brentford.

The Robins took a commanding two goal lead through Marcus Stewart and Luke Wilkshire before Paul Brooker pulled a goal back for Martin Allen's side.

Steve Brooker gave City breathing space with fifteen minutes remaining before Sam Sodje made for an uneasy last ten minutes when he netted.

Yeovil began life without Johnson with a 1-0 win over Port Vale thanks to Matt Harrold's goal five minutes from time.

Doncaster's excellent week continued as they beat Barnsley 2-0 thanks to goals from Paul Green and David Mulligan in the 13th and 83rd minute respectively.

Chesterfield came from behind to beat Hartlepool 3-1 at Saltergate.

Martin Scott's side took the lead through Martin Proctor before in the second period Colin Larkin, David Niven and Paul Hall stole the points for the home side.

Colchester and Huddersfield shared the points as Gary Taylor-Fletcher cancelled outGeorge Elokobi's opener for The U's.

Andy Liddell's penalty in the 62nd was enough to secure Oldham a 1-0 win over Bournemouth, while Southend beat Rotherham 4-2 on their travels.

Southend took a two goal lead through Mark Bentley and Adam Barrett before Colin Murdock and a Deon Burton penalty brought Rotherham level.

With six minutes remaining Wayne Gray gave Southend the lead and then secured the points on 88 minutes when he netted from the penalty spot.

Walsall were also big winners on their travels as a Matt Fryatt penalty and a Simon Osborn double helped them to a 3-1 win at Scunthorpe, who had levelled through Billy Sharp.

Bradford came from behind to beat Swindon 3-2, as a Steve Claridge double secured three points for Colin Todd's side.

Rory Fallon gave Swindon the lead, before Dean Windass found a leveller on 34 minutes before in the second half, Claridge notched a brace.

Swindon made The Bantams sweat in the 76th minute when Fallon reduced the deficit.

Tranmere and Gillingham played out an eventful 2-2 draw at Prenton Park, with Michael Jackson having broken the deadlock on 10 minutes, only to see The Gills level through Darren Byfield.

Chris Greenacre restored Tranmere's advantage just after the break but a Byfield penalty allowed Gillingham to escape with a point.

Blackpool beat MK Dons 3-2 at Bloomfield Road after taking the lead through a Peter Clarke penalty.

Nick Rizzo levelled a minute later from the spot before Wade Small gave Danny Wilson's side the lead before half time. In the second period, Blackpool fought back and took the spoils courtesy of a Pablo Mills own goal and a winner from Jamie Burns.

New manager Gary Johnson continued his dream start in charge of Bristol City with a 3-0 win over Barnsley.

All the goals came in the first half. Steve Brooker opened the scoring after 23 minutes, before Marcus Stewart doubled the lead from the spot and added a third just before the break. Barnsley could not respond, and City cruised through the second period.

Johnson's old club Yeovil were less successful, going down 4-1 away at Southend.

Phil Jevons fired Yeovil in front (44), before The Shrimpers responded in style. Luke Guttridge equalised in the60th minute and Wayne Gray followed his two goals on Saturday with another to give Steve Tilson's side the lead. Substitute Freddy Eastwood then netted twice in the last two minutes to give Southend the spoils.

MK Dons got their first win of the season courtesy of a 1-0 victory at home to Scunthorpe, who are struggling to keep up their fine start. Clive Platt gave Milton Keynes the lead just before the break but they had to endure a nervous second half to claim the points.

Talented youngster Jonathan Forte ensured Doncaster's good run of results continued, scoring the only goal of the game after 36 minutes to confine Swindon to the foot of the table. Forte was later sent off for foul and abusive language, while Swindon's Jerel Ifil also received a red card for a second bookable offence.

Blackpool were denied three much needed points against Nottm Forest. Keigan Parker put The Seasiders ahead midway through the first half, but Ian Breckin levelled for the home side (79). In a tense finish, Blackpool held on for a 1-1 draw.

Elsewhere, Bradford drew 1-1 with Colchester at Valley Parade. Greg Halford scored after 62 minutes to give the away side the lead, but Bobby Petta grabbed an equaliser for The Bantams in the closing minutes.

Gillingham snatched a late win at home to Chesterfield, Brent Sancho with the only goal of the game (86).

Third placed Huddersfield joined Swansea and Southend on 23 points. It seemed as though The Terriers had missed their opportunity when Pawel Abbottcould not converta first half penalty, but Danny Schofield scored a late winner to hand the Yorkshire outfit a 1-0 victory.

Hartlepool and Rotherham played out a goalless draw at Victoria Park, while fourth place Brentford lost ground on the leaders when they were held 0-0 by Walsall.
