Lee Trundle will meet up with his former strike partner on Tuesday when the Swans entertain Plymouth at the Liberty

The on loan Swansea City striker will be face to face with former strike mate Rory Fallon with the latter having secured himself hero status in his native New Zealand with the goal that took them to South Africa next summer.

And Trundle revealed that he - and all Fallon's former team mates - could not be happier for the man who was widely criticised during his time at the Liberty

Speaking to Wales on Sunday, Trundle said “It’s a bit of a surprise when you say that Rory Fallon is going to the World Cup

“But that’s just football and it shows how quickly things can change.

“It only takes one moment to define your career. It’s a great achievement for him and to score the goal that got them there makes it extra special.

“All the lads that know him were absolutely buzzing for him.

“To see someone you know going to play in the biggest competition in the world is great and it’s something he will remember for the rest of his life.

“It’s been a strange turnaround for Rory and it will be good to have a chat with him about it on Tuesday. It’s certainly a good talking point.”

Trundle's double at Peterborough on Saturday increased his chances of extending his loan spell at Swansea and he added “I realise the time is ticking by on my loan spell

“But it’s hard to complain with the run the team has been on.

“Not knowing your future unsettles you though.

“You are fighting to stay at the club and it’s the first time this has really happened to me.

“You feel you are on trial all the time. You are not fully relaxed and on edge.

“It affects me as I want to stay here so much and there’s a lot to lose for me. It’s my club and my home.

“But I’m still hopeful of staying. I haven’t heard anything on my future yet from either club.

“So I will keep plugging away.”
