Schneiderlin Left Out Of Saints Squad For Leverkusen
Friday, 8th Aug 2014 16:20

Morgan Schneiderlin will not take any part in the friendly against Bayer Leverkusen after a showdown meeting with Ronald Koeman and Ralph Krueger on Friday morning.

Saints have announced that Schneiderlin will not play because he is not physically and more importantly not mentally prepared for the game and has been told to take the weekend off to think about his position.

Once again the Frenchman was told that he would not be sold in this transfer window and obviously this is something that he is finding it hard to accept, I can understand why he would be frustrated that h cannot follow some of his colleagues and perhaps treble his wages at a so called bigger club and im sure many Saints fans will have some sympathy in the fact that out of the five who have been sold for big money, Adam Lallana apart, Schneiderlin has done more than most to deserve his service allowing him a move and there must be some frustration that those with less dedication to our cause have been allowed to go and feather their nests whilst he is being forced to stay.

I can sympathise with him, but on the other hand he is under contract to Saints and is a professional footballer, he signed that contract so the club is fully entitled to expect him to honour it, contracts are two way things and yes it might not suit him to stay, but football is a tough game and there are plenty who have been in similar psotions to him at their clubs yet have not acted with such childish behaviour.

If Schneiderlin is not mentally prepared then that has to be a question mark about his attitude and perhaps might tell him why it took him so long to win a French cap.

Ironically Saints have a plethora of midfield players, aguably he is the one player that we can replace with both Cork and Wanyama chomping at the bit to play in his position as well as several other able to play in that role, perhaps in another situation it would suit Saints very much to let him leave, but sadly that situation is not the one we are in now, Schneiderlin has to now knuckle down, accept that he is going to stay at least in the short term, help Saints to a good start to the season and then the rewards both financially and in terms of playing career will come his way.

He's a good player, not great, 20M sell him. Of course wouldn’t be saying that if he was not being so petulant! SFC would have already offered him an increase in wages (I would have thought) so don’t believe that is the issue, just being a big sulky pants. No let him go because we don’t want his negativity in the dressing room. I would like to see another couple of defenders, winger and goalie in though. Come on Nick tap up a few contacts and let us know if there’s anything happening? Hope everybody is in full voice for tomorrow, lets show RK and the guys the passion down here.

It would be a lot more difficult to replace spider than you think, besides let mopo have him, no way, let him sit in the reserves until he's sorry then he can go to whoever pays the most next season.Glad Jose got a new deal but he's never a captain i would of thought Vlaar (if we get him)or Davis (not Kelvin) spuds will be back on the last day of the window and i hope Saints stand firm coyr.

I think his head is at Spuds, better communication and improved contract could have made a big difference to MS and all this would have been avoided. Its absolutely vital that Cork, Davis, Clyne etc are shown their worth by the club as soon as possible, we have money, use it to improve contracts instead of panic buying professional journeymen.

Set the stall out now, under contract, means under contract. weakness now means the club is fcuked in the future. Get over it and play or sulk on the bench

KL should tell him she's "not mentally prepared" to sign his pay cheque! Don't let the inmates run the asylum. Loan him out to First division team and see if he misses playing in those stadia!

I would like to see him forced to play and earn his move on the pitch with decent performances.

Play well you coont and you will get your "dream move" to spuds, just as long as we get our £25M or levy can do one .

I wonder if the MoPo factor is what has caused this impasse - would he have already have gone if it was another club? Perhaps the club agree with my view that that little snake MoPo is largely responsible for the problems our club is having.
That said, the plain truth is that there is no point keeping Schneiderlin now. Once this sort of thing starts it is bad for the club and the player. Let him put it in writing and then let him go (maybe wait until 31 Aug though!!)...

I keep repeating it, The POX has caused all this unrest and rush to the door. Don't let this frog go to join the POX.

All management has to do is say "We know we said no more sales, but this guy will be poison in the locker room. So we want to get rid of all the rotten wood and let RK build his team." Fans would understand -If we get good money for him and spend it wisely! A statement from RK would be nice. NFL or NHL coaches in this situation usually are out in front of the press the next day laying down the law for the player-Fergie and Jose are the only managers I can think of today who would be papers saying "This player can shut up and play, or sit and rot and not get paid-in fact he'll be fined!" Show him who's boss RK! (That will set the tone not only for him but the rest of the team as well)
