RIP Tony Millington
Thursday, 6th Aug 2015 07:00 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

It was with great sadness yesterday that the news reached us of the passing of former Swansea and Wales goalkeeper Tony Millington who was 72.

Tony died in hospital in North Wales yesterday morning having gone into hospital a fortnight ago.

Tributes were paid to him by Alan Curtis who said "He was a terrific goalkeeper and he really was very much a throwback of what the game was like in those days – funny people and characters."

And former Vetch DJ Tony Wyn-Davies said "We were like brothers. It's a great shock. His daughter phoned me and said it was very peaceful.

"He was a character and everybody that knew him, or saw him play thought he was a character.

"Everybody loved him – there's not one single supporter I could say that didn't love Tony, he really entertained the crowd."

Everyone at Planet Swans would like to send their condolences to the Millington family on their loss but the name of Tony will live on with his name already on the Wall of Fame outside the Liberty Stadium
