Bookies Invent New Bet For Southampton FC
Friday, 12th Mar 2021 09:57

It was no surprise when Moussa Djenepo limped out of Saints game at Sheffield United injured, this is now an established custom in any Southampton fixture, someone has to go off injured, but it is no laughing matter as Ralph Hasenhuttl's injured list goes back up to six, but there is money to be made.

Those who like a bet on football games often put a few quid on the first Saints goal scorer, but a new bet has emerged, "The First To Go Off Injured"

This is now being offered by several on line betting companies exclusively for Southampton FC only.

Odds can now be found on every Saints squad member to be the first off injured for the game against Brighton and there are also other combinations that can be used.

You can combine first goal scorer with first off injured, as well as half time/full time injury scores, ie no one off by half time and one injury in the second half etc.

There is also what is being referred to as the Cluedo bet, this is where you state the first off the pitch injured along with the injury and the place sustained. Takumi Minamino with a hamstring in the penalty area is currently being offered at a very attractive 10/1.

As a service to our readers we publish what we consider the best odds for this weekend's game against Brighton.

First injured - Kyle Walker Peters 10/1
Form Guide- pulled up in 2 of his last 3 outings doesn't like the going heavy and with torrential rain forecast may not go the distance.

Combi Bet - Injury first half, no injuries second 7/1
Form guide- last two games have seen this happen, footballers are a competitive lot they will be keen to hit the treble.

Cluedo Bet - Although we have mentioned Takumi Minamino, he perhaps doesn't offer value as we say in the Turf Accountant industry, however Stuart Armstrong does for a hamstring injury in the centre circle. 75/1
Form Guide, Armstrong has not been run at full pelt at late and has pulled up several times , very generous odds being offered for a player who has a history of hard work but fading in the closing stages.

First Goalscorer & First off injured - Takumi Minamino 25/1
Form Guide - Seems to have suffered from a surge of game time since arriving at St Mary's and this leads to fatigue late in games which can lead to muscle strain.

Double - Che Adams to get first goal & Nathan Tella off injured at any point 50/1
Form Guide - Adams has scored in last two goals and Tella has been injured earlier this year so is a good outside bet for another one.

Treble - Che Adams to score first goal, Nathan Tella to go off injured at any point and Pompey fans to claim there were 60,000 of them at Wembley on Saturday for their game against Salford City. 1/50 on. Very low odds there is no way that Pompey fans will not be able to mention how great their support was at Wembley.

Accumulator - Che Adams to score first goal, Nathan Tella to go off injured at any point and Pompey fans to claim there were 60,000 of them at Wembley on Saturday for their game against Salford City and John Petersfield Born & Bred Westwood to fall off the top of a World record breaking 350 wooden pallets on the back of a flat bed truck in the Wembley car park. Evens.

There are a lot of good odds available at all good online bookmakers.

Disclaimer. The Ugly Inside accepts no responsibility for it's tipping advice service. nor will it enter into any disputed as to whether a player left the pitch for a tactical change or whether he was limping. We do not encourage anyone of any gender (Not that we are a gender assumptive website) to bet, but of you do bet responsibly and know when to stop.

The clue is in the picture !! It was Danny Ings who limped off at Sheffield United. Djenepo actually came on in that game, as a sub in the 88th minute.

Djenepo did however get replaced at Half Time at Manchester City on Wednesday night - because of injury - over stretching for that chance he should have tucked away.

We continue to get more than our fair share of injuries - but hopefully all that will change for the last quarter of the season and we can get the likes of Walcott, Djenepo and Ings back and fit, to push up the league and progress in the FA Cup.

Nice one - and I have to say I was taken in for the first few seconds. There will certainly need to be an inquiry into why so many injuries - hardly any directly caused by opposition fouls.

Some have been just pure bad luck ie Ings, Djenepo & Romeu at Leeds when the pitch disintegrated , i think many of them are the result of games being squeezed in and our injury crisis and players having to play when not 100% and not being able to get the normal treatment due to restrictions

Good one Nick, for the first 2 paragraphs you nearly had me fooled, but I particularly like the paragraph for the Accumulator, had me laughing out loud!

If all the players and staff are in a bubble, then why are they not allowed to use all the recovery equipment ?
Surely they can get rotas set up to allow minimal numbers to use the facilities at any one time and even a restricted amount of use would have a big benefit ?
They should just loan some of the equipment to players, so that they can use it exclusively in their own homes.
