Bella Kotchap To Miss Trip To Bournemouth
Tuesday, 18th Oct 2022 11:46

Saints hopes of a win at Bournemouth on Wednesday have suffered a setback with the news that Armel Bella- Kotchap won't be available after dislocating his shoulder in the draw with West Ham United on Sunday.

The German International will miss the trip to Bournemouth but as of yet it is unclear how many games he will miss going forward,

“Doesn’t look good for Armel, he’ll be out on Wednesday,” confirmed Hasenhüttl. “It’s not so sure in what direction we are going.

“If we need a surgery for him or if we do it without. I think he wants to try without, mobilising the shoulder, then coming back in maybe two weeks, three weeks. Otherwise it will take longer.

“This is definitely a loss for us, again. So longer term injuries are not the best for a team that is looking for results.”

That means Saints are currently without three of their brightest young stars with Armel-Kotchap joining Romeo Lavia and Tino Livramento on the longer term injury list.

However there is some good news in that it will give another new signing Duje Caleta-Car the chance to show just why we signed him.

Although not ideal, Caleta-Car is an international for a decent national side. He's looked pretty solid imo when he's played. Even on the weekend when Bella came off, it did not feel like we were any more at risk bringing him on.

Not sure I like the thought of our success resting on an 18 and a 20 year old being available to play. Caleta-Car and AMN/Diallo need to stand up and take their chance.

Maybe this is C-Cars chance to get involved and show why we signed him. He is good in the air and seems calm on the ball. Let's back him up.
